Monday Mishmash with a Cover Reveal

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:

  1. Cape May  I may be home but my mind is still back in Cape May. It was a great weekend getaway. Although, I had no internet for 3 days!
  2. Finishing my WIP  I'll be finishing up the draft of my WIP this week. I've already written the ending, but I have some of the middle left to write. ;P
  3. Radio Show  I was on Geek Chick Radio with other Spencer Hill Press authors last Tuesday. You can hear the show here.
  4. Guest Post  On Friday, I did a guest post and interview on Elaine Stock's blog. If you missed it, it's still up. Find it here.
  5. My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century  I revealed the cover of Rachel Harris's debut YA novel a while back, but the cover has been redone. I love it! Here it is:

That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Oh Cape May sounds interesting ... 3 days without Internet can sometimes be bliss. I have taken a bit of a hiatus from blogging/ social media and it's done me the world of good ... it helps to recharge the batteries.

Good luck with the writing - hope it goes well.

  2. Sounds like a great vacation and I'm glad to hear you have survived 3 days of internet deprivation! The YA book cover is adorable. Makes me want to check it out.

  5. It was absolute torture for me when I had to go without internet while on our white water rafting trip last year. It wasn't until I was home that I realized how relaxing and how much fun I'd had on my trip!

    That cover is awesome, too.

    1. LOL. I did have a great time, and got over the disconnected feeling.

      I love the cover, too!

  7. I'd love to visit Cape May. The houses there look amazing.
Today I'll be interviewing someone for a science article I'm working on. It's nice to be working on a short project which I can finish in a week instead of a novel-length one! Good luck on finishing the WIP this week!

    1. Yes, the houses are gorgeous and so colorful. It was really beautiful.

Good luck with your interview. Short projects are great for getting a sense of accomplishment without the lengthy wait you can have when writing a novel.

  8. Love the new cover for Rachel's book! And Cape May sounds like a great place. I'm busting my behind trying to get as much writing in between now and Thursday as possible. It's Grace's last day of school, so my time is going to shrink, lol. Good luck this week!

    1. Oh, I know. My daughter only has until the end of the month and then no more school until next school year. Good luck!

  9. Looks like a fun book, I love the cover and the trailer.

*ignorantly confesses she doesn't know where Cape May IS*

Dreaming about my grandmother's house, and driving around her neighborhood in a car I don't have anymore. (Wonder if the people there have Internet connection now.)

    1. Cape May is the bottom tip of NJ. It's beautiful. Since I'm originally from NJ and have a right to pick on the state a little, I'll say that Cape May almost makes you forget you are in NJ. ;)

  15. Nice cover. I remember the first time you posted it. Now you've got me wondering what they changed.

    1. The entire cover changed. It used to be a girl wearing a similar dress and she had huge sunglasses. I like this one better.

  17. I had a getaway as well...but it was to a writers conference. So much fun being surrounded by so many people who share the same interests as me. :)

  18. Lovely cover. I like the "old" dresses, but am glad we don't have to wear them today. Imagine how hot they were.

Glad you had a nice vacation. Sounds super.

    1. Same here. The dresses are gorgeous. I'd like to wear one on a special occasion, but definitely not every day.

  19. I'm trying to bring joy back to reading, and my life in general, my birthday and Mother's Day was neutral, but I want to feel better than neutral, I want to actually feel joyous and like I'm accomplishing something more concrete than recently.

I don't know what will get me there, but please pray for me, Kelly. I don't want to be where I was last year, and how much of this year has been so far.

  20. Glad to see I'm not the only one who jumps around a manuscript.

This week, I'm finishing off the last details of my new website before I pass out the link to friends and business contacts to have a look over, before it goes live. I'm also working on my WiP which at the moment is throwing up more questions than answers. Frustrating but wonderfully thought provoking, it's given me a new slant on my novel.

    Have a great week.

  25. Great job, Kelly. I just finished listening to your radio interview. You did really well, I didn't hear any jitters there or even hesitation to the answers. I can't believe you wrote Touch of Death in 14 days! Amazing.

  26. Sounds like a nice relaxing weekend. I've been on the road a great deal, but it's not been for R&R. I need a stretch of beach... Loved the booked jacket.

On my mind yesterday, was sleep. Today on my mind is finishing the two short stories I started before going off to the Writer's Conference, or and sending off the entire MS, who previously had the first 50 pages. Good thing, yes?

Hugs, Kelly... you're my shining star.

  27. Glad you had a nice trip to Cape May! How fun! I am looking forward to listening to the radio interview. Good luck with your WIP- that is great that you have the end done, now it wil just be adding in how the characters get to where they end up. :)
