Monday Mishmash 6/11/12

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts today:
  1. BEA  I've been checking out great pictures from BEA. I'm so sad I couldn't go this year. But the Spencer Hill Press pictures have great shots of my book cover.
  2. Editing  I'm finishing up edits (for a client) on a great book that will release December 1. I've had a lot of fun working on this one.
  3. Closed Hearts  This weekend I finished reading Susan Kay Quinn's Closed Hearts. Such a great read!
  4. Time management  Now that my daughter is finished with school for the year, I'm struggling to find time to get everything done. Luckily, she's gives me about an hour of uninterrupted work. The rest I do at night.
  5. Congrats to my agency sister, Trisha Wolfe  I'm so excited to announce that my agency sister has big news! She'll be published by Spencer Hill Press with me! Here's her PM announcement: Trisha Wolfe's FIREBLOOD, set in a futuristic utopian society based on Camelot in which a girl, a prince, and his knights must forge a path to the truth before the deadly lies that power their world separate and destroy them, pitched as The Hunger Games meets Game of Thrones, to Kate Kaynak at Spencer Hill Press, in a nice deal, in a two-book deal, for publication in October 2013, by Lauren Hammond at ADA Management Group.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

*I'll be signing books at The Castle Inn in the Delaware Water Gap this Saturday at 1pm. Hope to see you there.

  2. So much wonderful news! So exciting to see your book among those others. Congrats, Kelly. You've earned it.

I hear you about the kiddos being home for the summer. I have a busy few writing months ahead of me and have no idea how I'll fit it in. But I'm sure I'll figure it out. ;D Best of luck finding your time to write.

  3. Today, and this week, is about returning to normality after a week's holiday (our first in five years). My children had a riot of a time (literally), trying their hands at archery, fencing, water activities and a trip to the beach, amongst other things. Paul and I shepherded them around, in between rain storms and probably got more exercise in one week than we normally do in a month.

Today is peaceful. I'm purposefully tootling around today before getting back to work tomorrow. I've almost finished my new website. I have a play to finish and I'm waiting to hear back about a competition I entered too.

    Have a great week.

  4. Kelly, I'm the same with time and my daughter. And by the time she's in bed, I'm exhausted. This week, I'm rushing to meet my deadline of finishing draft one of the WIP before we leave for vacation Friday morning. Have a great week, and congrats!

  6. My week will be much the same as last weeks. Waiting on edits for my MG coming in 2013. Revising my two WIP stories. Taking care of cats, birds, and deer, hubby too. I don't know how you ladies with children home find time to write.

    Have a nice week, everyone.

  7. Having some issues with my Kindle that are short-circuiting my reading, aargh! (Downloaded some books that had wi-fi interruption - now even though I have redownloaded with USB cable, they don't want to move past the point they had with Wi-Fi.) Gearing up my head for RWA in July in Anaheim - I am a conference virgin, therefore both nervous and excited. Wrote a few more pages on my newest novel.

Love your cover, am SO looking forward to reading the book when it comes out.

    1. I hope you get your Kindle fixed. Call tech support. My mom had issues with hers and they were able to fix it for her.

Conferences are so much fun. You'll have a great time. :)

Yay, I'm so glad you are excited for Touch of Death. :D

  9. I've been slacking off on my writing so I need to focus more on my novel especially world building and how to write fight scenes. Good luck with your book signing!

  10. Hey, good covers!
Best of luck in finding time now that your little one is out of school. As for me, I joined Camp nano to keep pushing me.

    1. Good for you, Catherine. I never seem to be in place to write a novel when the nano times roll around. I have to revise a WIP I finished last month and I'm editing for a publisher at the moment too.

  11. Nice covers!

I'm back to work, and feeling puzzled enough to blog about it.

  12. Hi, Kelly, Great to see your cover out there!

You won the Title-a-Rama contest on my blog, so if you're willing to send me your email address, I'll pass along a Very Serious Poem About Summer. (Oceanically speaking, it's serious.) I tried the email address on your website and it got bounced back twice. Mine is hmallon@navpoint.com

Otherwise got 2 adorable new kittens at home, word counts to meet on WIP, 2 writing workshops to teach, kids to juggle. But hey, I'm a mom. I can do anything, right?

LOL. Being a mom does make you so much better at multi-tasking and accomplishing the seemingly impossible. Good luck!

  13. I love the line Spencer Hill uses: "There's magic in these pages!" That's great!

  14. I'm still reading Bullies, Bastads and Beetches (spelling on purpose) by Jessica Morrell. I will be posting a caption contest inspired by a photograph I took during my vacation. :D

    Maybe later today.

  17. Wish I lived closer for the book signing. Best of luck! I wish I got go to the BEA this year- but it wasn't in the cards. Hopefully next year. I am thinking about house projects I need to wrap up, writing I want to get done and some organizing of online files I need to do. :)

    1. I remember those days. They will get more scheduled. Don't worry. I went back to school (online) when my daughter was about a year old. Make use of nap times. They can be your best friend. Good luck!
