Monday Mishmash 12/16/13

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:
  1. Touch of Death in the YA Highway Cover Story Post!  Over on YA Highway, they did an awesome cover story post where they created a story and used book covers to "illustrate" it. Touch of Death was among the covers! Yay! You can check out the post here.
  2. Editing  I'm swamped with client edits through mid-January. I'm loving it, but I need to find a way to sneak in writing time, too.
  3. Christmas shopping  Ugh, I'm STILL not finished shopping. The snow this past weekend cancelled my shopping trip, so I'll be out there with all the other last-minute shoppers.
  4. School Visit Guest Post  In case you missed it, I was on Sarah Negovetich's blog talking about school visits. You can check it out here and feel free to ask me questions. (Sarah's blog is a wealth of information, so if you haven't checked it out yet, go now! Seriously!)
  5. Querying  I'm nearing the point where I should hear back on the fulls I have out. I'm biting my nails (Figuratively speaking. I love my long nails.) and still hoping Santa brings me a new agent.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Congrats on having your cover used! You'll get all those edits done and find time to write. You're the author of 10 novels -- there's nothing you can't do! :-)

  3. Great advice for the school visits, Kelly! I will be doing a lot of last minute shopping next weekend since the snow put a damper on most of our plans Saturday. Good luck with your writing and edits!

  4. Crossing fingers for you on the agent situation. Ugh is right...Christmas shopping can be a real drag. But I love to see the recipients faces. It makes it worth it.

Yes, I love giving gifts. I just don't like the shopping part.

  5. Congrats on the cover story!!! That's awesome! I'm still reading for the Cybils, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel. We will have decided on the finalists by the end of the month, and I've only got about 10 to 15 more books to read by then. Currently, I've read over 70 books since October 1st. (!) I think I have more of an idea of what a slush pile is now. :)

  8. Good luck on all of your editing. I just bought some purple nail polish, which will hopefully keep me from nibbling on my nails! Luckily I've gotten 95% of my Xmas shopping done. Enough to post wintery pix on my blog. Stop by when you get a chance!

  16. I know everything will work out fine. You'll have an agent soon. Why not split your work week between editing and writing. It's not any different from those of us who go into the office, and write the other times of the day. Sorry to be one of those clients who continue to send you work. :-(

    1. I know. I need to do that, but I like to give things my full attention.

Brenda, I love editing your work. No need to apologize ever. My clients pay my bills, so I'm happy for the work. :)

  17. One of those agents is going to be thrilled with your work and offer you representation. I just know it! ;)

The YA 2013: A Cover Story was cute and clever. I loved what they wrote for the category for your cover: "She stared worriedly into the distance, thinking about what to do." lol And I think your cover is beautiful. :)
