Monday Mishmash 3/19/12

Happy Monday! Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Finishing my YA contemporary romance  I was so worried about writing a contemporary novel, but I loved it. I'm finishing it up today and can honestly say it was so much fun to write.
  2. Book Expo  I registered for my local Book Expo in July. Yay! It was a lot of fun last year, so I'm looking forward to doing it again.
  3. SWAG for Touch of Death  I've got some killer SWAG in the works for Touch of Death. Look for lots of giveaways in the months before the release!
  4. Editing  I've got some new editing clients, which is always fun. I love getting to work with new writers.
  5. Kindle Fire  I really want one! I'm so glad they came out with a color Kindle because my new PB, Santa Bunny, is selling well on it. (Easter book and it's only $2.99-- yes, that's a shameless plug *bows head*)
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  2. Sounds like a busy (but good) week ahead for you.

This week is about tying up loose ends and making some decisions on creative priorities.

    1. Me too! It's so much fun. I just realized killer SWAG is sort of a pun as far as Touch of Death is concerned. Didn't even mean to do that. ;)

  5. Have fun with your manuscript editing. I am doing that as well and really enjoying myself. It's fun to play with words all day... ;)

  6. Slogging through final revisions on a MG manuscript when my head wants to concentrate on the YA WIP I started while letting the first one rest. I have to keep scolding my own brain. :)

Also doing much better with posting my blog on a (kinda) regular basis. I need more funny things to happen to me in real life so I have material to write about. Maybe I should go sit at the mall and just wait for something to happen.

Glad to hear your YA went so well!

    1. Thanks, Judy. I always get a new idea when I'm revising. It's like a curse, but when I finish revising, I'm thankful I already know where I'm going next.

  7. This week I'm moving on to revisions on my YA manuscript. I have a feeling it's going to be a long process, but it'll be worth it in the end.

Congrats on finishing your romance novel.

  8. Congratulations on finishing your manuscript! I'm making an attempt at YA fiction myself now (taking a break from submitting the adult ms, maybe putting it aside for a bit.) I've finished the outline and am plugging away. You give me inspiration!

  10. Kudos to all of your hard work! Yes, I share your love for the Kindle Fire. The color world map and my illustrations for Fireseed One look so awesome on it! It's like the light from behind gives the pictures an extra glow.

    1. Oh, now I really want one! I keep entering giveaways for them but I never win and I can't buy one because my husband bought me my Kindle a year ago for Christmas and I don't want to just get rid of something he gave me like that. Ugh!

  11. So pleased for you. Almost a year to go before we can read it... oh well. So glad you had fun with it.

    1. Oh, who knows how long it will be before this manuscript becomes a book (if it does *fingers crossed*) It's still 301 days until Touch of Death releases. LOL

  15. Lady Kelly

Greetings. Normally i try to be a bit less me-centric. But I was visiting somewhere, and someone, I haven't seen in a while last night. So. Here it is. For what it's worth, and in porrer words than it deserves - Reality. It's what you make it.

    1. And if the words are poor, it would at least help if I spelled them right. Sigh...

  18. Shameless plugs are always allowed. I was wondering if you were still accepting clients. I hope you are still there when I finish "Burying Mother" (working title...) I don't write as quickly as you (only 4 chaps so far). Nothing exciting to share with you today. Excited for the swag.

  20. Writing, revision, and critiquing. That's all I'm doing today. Oh, and coming up with logos. I've decided I'm a pretty good amateur border-drawer. I never thought I could draw borders before, but I can. Amazin'.

  23. I love, love, love my Kindle fire. I use both (the original and the Fire), but I really like the Fire.

We need to talk about the swag you have for Touch of Death. I need some inspiration for Concilium's release in July. :)

That Killer SWAG could be part of a plot.

I just finished The Hunger Games, so I can go watch the movie.

Keep busy! I know you will.

    1. Yes, I will keep busy, Rick. That's how I like things. ;)

I love getting new editing clients. It's fun to work with different kinds of writers (style, voice, etc.).

I haven't read The Hunger Games yet. The kids fighting to the death thing is still making me cringe. Maybe one day.
