Monday Mishmash 8/19/13

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:

  1. Stalked by Death GC and SWAG giveaway  If you haven't entered to win a $10 Amazon or B&N gift card and SWAG for Stalked by Death, do it soon. The giveaway is almost over. Enter here.
  2. Fall Blog Schedule  September is just around the corner, and my fall blogging schedule will be in effect. Monday Mishmash will remain the same. Wednesdays will be fore blogging about writing, and Fridays will be about promoting great books. I'm excited.
  3. Into the Fire Edits  I'm finishing up on edits for Into the Fire. I'm so excited for this book. :)
  4. Reading  I slacked on reading this summer. I need to fit in more time, but I hurt my back and have taken time off from running, which is usually when I read.
  5. Teacher Assignments  This week my daughter finds out who her teacher is. I have to say I'm hoping it's one of two because I know they'll push her, and she thrives on that. If it's not, I might have to become "that mom" who requests a transfer. What can I say? I love my daughter and want what's best for her.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  2. Your "Into the Fire" cover is really gorgeous! Good luck finishing the line edits. I always get butterflies in my stomach when that is completed. Won't be long now! :)

  3. The Kindle app on my tablet crashed, again. Perhaps it's a sign to stop slacking and get writing.

  5. It's wonderful you're so busy and getting so much accomplished. Go ahead and be "that Mom." If you don't advocate for your child, who will?

  6. That final round of edits... Is there anything like it? *sigh* I just finished mine, and it's strange to think that's the end. There really is an end to this process. *gulp*

  7. Sounds like you're having fun. And being "that mum", why not. We all love our kids and want what's best for them. I finally won the battle to get one of ours moved to more appropriate housing.:)

  9. You're a busy mom and writer. Love the cover of Into the Fire. I've been reading a lot, but plan to slow down this fall and spend more time on my writing. Hope everything works out with your daughter and her teacher.

  10. I'm very excited about Into the Fire, it sounds great! School for my kidlet sounds so very far away, but I'm sure it'll be here before I know it. Time flies...

  12. Neither of my girls got the teachers they thought they wanted, but the school did I great job assigning them teachers they needed (who also happen to be super nice). Hope it's the same for you!

    1. See, there's a really nice teacher that everyone wants. Everyone but me. LOL I want the ones that will push my daughter. I guess it's because I was always the teacher that pushed her students.

  15. Where did the summer go?! It went by way too fast.

  16. good job on the blog schedule. I've had to cut back on blogging just to get other things done. I too slacked on my summer reading list. I didn't get half way through.
I hope your daughter likes her new teacher.

  17. I hope your back feels better, and that your daughter gets the best teacher. The fall blog schedule makes sense because it's a good balance.

  18. Aw, I didn't know you hurt your back. :( I hope it feels better soon. It's not fun having pain like that.

Hurray for INTO THE FIRE! This has been one I've been STOKED about. :)

  21. I just blogged yesterday about what I'd like to see more of as a librarian for YA readers. Greek mythology was right up there in my top three! Fantastic!

Good luck with all of your edits. :-)

  22. Right now, I'm trying to decide between going to sleep late or trying to wake up early to get some more rewriting done.

Fingers crossed that your daughter ends up with the right teacher. :-)

  23. Hope your daughter gets the teacher she wants! I homeschooled my daughters K-12 so there was never any of that, for better or for worse ;)

  24. You have so many things going on for you in the fall. I hope your daughter gets the better teacher.

I hurt my back over the summer and got a lot of reading done.

  26. On my mind is that it's Thursday and I am reading your post from Monday. I can't read the other ones or add one more book to my TBR. All that I have on my mind these days is writing. I'm somehow managing to keep up my pace, but everything else is in the gutter. The new job has me running. I'm sure at some point it will settle down, until then I am hyper focused on my writing.

    1. Yes, it will settle down, but good for you for continuing to write. Laundry and other chores can wait. ;)
