Monday Mishmash 3/17/14

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:
  1. Kiss of Death  I've been working on revisions for a Touch of Death prequel novella told from Alex's point of view. I fell hard for Alex and wanted to tell his story (pre-Jodi) to give readers a little insight as to how he ends up the person we all see in Touch of Death. Stay tuned for more info on when this novella will be available.
  2. Idea Overload  Last week I got a bunch of new ideas and jotted them all down. One idea is speaking to me louder than the others so I'm plotting that one and trying to work on it in between edits.
  3. 5 Books in 2014?  I don't know how I didn't realize this—I think my subconscious wouldn't let me focus on it—but I have 5 books releasing this year. 5! Face of Death, The Monster Within, Perfect For You, Into the Fire, and Curse of the Granville Fortune are all 2014 titles. How on earth did that happen? I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it.
  4. Reading  I'm trying to work my way through some books that have been on my shelf for years now. I need more time to read.
  5. Perfect For You  In case you missed my cover reveal last week, my upcoming Ashelyn Drake YA contemporary romance has a gorgeous cover! Check it out and feel free to add it on Goodreads.

That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  2. Wow, 5 releases in one year, that's certainly a lot of work, but at least it won't be boring.

A lot's happening with me this week-

I'm part of another launch team for an upcoming release. (I'll share more later this week)

Going over the latest feedback from my editor on GABRIEL.

Speaking of GABRIEL, he and his friend Rum are now on Twitter via @GabrielandRum (Those on Twitter I'd appreciate you saying hello to them, they share the account)

I hope to finish reading a certain book I've dragged my feet on, not because I don't like it, but it's an emotionally draining read, and once it's read I can move on to something just as good but less draining.

I wish I could read two books at the same time, but the plot of the one I put aside's too intricate to keep straight alongside another. Plus, it's longer than this YA novel I want to finish before the end of the month if not this week.

Finally, a friendly reminder my first e-publication "Crocodile Flint" is now available on Snippet for $1.99 (USD) [http://thesnippetapp.com/web/writers/TaureanJ.Watkins]

  3. 5 books? Brilliant. I'm working on Act 2 of the play I'm writing and, as usual, on my novel. Have a great week.

    1. I have two releasing in September and one in October. I'm going to be crazy busy this fall. I'm a little nervous.

Oh, and my blog is always open to you, so if you'd like feature spots at release time, just let me know. I'd love to have you. :)

  5. I'm interested in learning more about Alex, Kelly. What a fantastic idea for a novella!
Like yourself, I wish I had more time for reading. Once I finish my novel, my children's story, and get a bit more settled with school visits, I'm going to focus more on my TBR list.
You have five books releasing this year! This is incredible news and I'm wishing you the absolute best in success with every single one of your books. Hopefully, you too, will find more time to read=)
Happy St. Patty's Day! I almost forgot, lol.

    1. Aw, thank you!

I don't think it matters how long it takes you to write a book, just that you're writing one. :)

    1. A lot actually. lol I'm not a night person at all, so I'm early to bed, early to rise. Unless I'm fast drafting. Then I do give up sleep until the draft is complete.

Thank you so much for featuring The Monster Within on your blog today. :)

  10. 5 is an amazing number! And you already know which I'm most excited about. ;) Tho The Monster Within is a close second. Or would it be the MG novel? Hmm. MG is a genre dear to my heart- I find most of them to be either bursting w/voice that I get addicted to, or making me reach for the tissues.

  16. I love it when I get new ideas, but at the same time I hate it because I have so many story ideas I still have to work on! Wow...5 books releasing this year. That's amazing. You certainly are a busy bee. :) A Touch of Death prequel sounds like a great idea! I can't wait to be able to read it. :D I also need more time to read. I'm currently trying to tackle eBooks. Your Campus Crush series is on my list, too. :)
