Monday Mishmash 4/20/15

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Monroe County Book Expo  Thank you to everyone who came out to the Monroe County Book Expo. I had a lot of fun talking to the readers and other authors.
  2. Mobile Websites  I hate mobile websites, and ALWAYS opt for the web view if it's available. But…Google is changing their SEO and now you pretty much have to have a mobile website, so I made that change over the weekend.
  3. New Adult Scavenger Hunt  The New Adult Scavenger Hunt begins on April 23rd, and I'll be participating as Ashelyn Drake. I'm really excited to be part of Team Blue! I'll be sharing an exclusive scene from Looking For Love, told from a different POV, which is always fun. I'm also giving away a paperback of Campus Crush.

  4. Reviewing  I have two books I agreed to review soon. One book I'm finishing up and another I have yet to start. So it looks like I'll be busy with that this week.
  5. Revisions  I'm working on revisions for one of my manuscripts. It's always fun to pull out a book you haven't looked at in a while. It adds a fresh perspective to the story.
That's it for me. What's on your mind this week?

  1. School testing this week, so very little time for writing. First round of edits completed on my first YA adventure novel signed with MuseitUp, and 20K words into my next one. But all writing has to wait until the weekend. Hope you have a great week!

  3. I don't mind mobile sites so long as they provide all the important features! I hate it when some features do not carry over. I don't like to view a website on my phone if it isn't responsive though because I don't like zooming in and scrolling around to read.

    1. I wish mobile sites retained the pretty layout of a web version though. Most mobile sites look the same to me, and I don't really like that.

  4. I have no idea what a mobile website is so I guess I'll stay in the dark ages. I don't have an iPhone or whatever, just a simple little cell with nothing fancy.
Looks like a great Expo. Looking forward to the scavenger hunt.

    1. It's just a site that's made for viewing on a phone. Nothing fancy.

    2. Thanks, Kelly. Someday I may learn how all this stuff works. :)

    3. You may not need to since you were already doing everything correctly without even knowing it. ;)

  6. I keep hearing more people are viewing websites through their mobile devices. Pity. You lose all the cool sidebar items unless you're viewing on a tablet. But, it seems to the future.

  7. My week is great so far since I finally got through a scene I've been trying to revise for weeks! *rawr* Glad you had fun at the expo!

  8. I love the look of your books all together.

I don't think I had to do anything for my site. When I open it on my phone, it's already in some type of different format thanks to Blogger. I always look for the full version link.

  9. Sounds like you have a full week ahead. Have fun reading the two books! For me, I have writing, blog-exploring, painting and reading to do. Just finished a short story draft and am putting it away for a bit. Will get to my revisions next week.

  10. Have been working on our shop website for the past week or so to make it "mobile friendly". It's been taking up all my writing time. But I'm getting there.

  11. I don't use Internet on a mobile device, because then it's when I'm out and have something else to do and be. Yes, I'm really ancient that way. So now I'll have to get educated about the google change.

    1. Basically if you want your site to come up in searches, you need to make sure it's mobile friendly. I think a lot of blogs default to mobile-friendly templates.

  12. nice! I love revising ..I'm currently half drafting part of my MS, half revising the beginning chapters. I'm so disorganized with this MS but it seems to be working, so I guess that's all that matters lol

    1. Every manuscript is different. If this is what works for this one, go with it. Good luck!
