Monday Mishmash 8/29/16

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. First Day of School :(  I'm one of those mothers who cries on the ride home from dropping my daughter off at school on the first day every year. It doesn't matter how old she gets or that I know she has a ton of friends. She's my best bud and I miss her like crazy.
  2. After Loving You Cover Reveal  If you missed the cover reveal for After Loving You this past weekend, here it is! You can preorder your copy today here
  3. Back to My Usual Schedule  Now that school is back in session, my writing/editing schedule is too. The days always feel so long this time of year because I'm not used to working for five and a half hours straight after breaking up my time during the summer.
  4. Editing  My editing schedule is packed from now through January. That's good though because I need to make money, right?
  5. WIP Put on Hold  I've written quite a bit this year, so I don't feel bad that I have to put my current WIP on hold in order to edit for clients. I might work on it slowly (a few thousand words a day), but we'll see.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. A few thousand words a day, she says! I can only wish!! :D

I cried on the first day of kindergarten with both of my kids. I guess it's that initial shock you realize they will experience with the whole social environment of the classroom. Prior to that, they only knew of you and whomever you decided to expose them to, whether visiting friends and their kids, or participating in family/work barbecues, etc. It's tough!

    1. My daughter never cried on the first day of school. Not once. I'm a different story. She's very social and loves being with her friends. I just miss her like crazy because she's my best buddy.

  3. I wish I could write a few thousand words a day. I'm working my way up to that.

  4. I will write a few thousand for a couple of days but I can't keep momentum. Need to work on that. Sorry you'll miss your buddy but she's being educated so she can be smart like her mummy! :) Congrats on the cover reveal last week and having that nice schedule fill that yes puts that good ol' cash on the table. ;)

    1. For me, the more I write, the more I want to write. The problem is I don't always have the time to write as much as I'd like.

  5. The cover is beautiful, and you and your daughter will have fun in the evenings. A thousand words, huh? Wow! Wish I wasn't so slow. Have a nice week.

  6. I used to feel odd and out-of sorts the first day of school, and then it was all right. I had to find my un-summer me, and get her back on track.
Enjoy it, Kelly. Too soon she will leave for school and not return for months... ;)

  7. Can't wait to read After Loving You. Looks like SO much fun! I think every mother goes through that...except the moms who are just relieved to have a few minutes of peace! And the moms who work M-F and drop their kids off at day care every day no matter what time of year it is!

    1. Working from home and being with her every day definitely makes me miss her more when she's in school.
