Monday Mishmash 9/17/18

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Editing  My editing schedule is booked solid until November 15th. That's good news for me.
  2. Still no school for Ayla  The strike continues. :(
  3. Reviews  Lately it seems harder than ever to get people to review books, and with Amazon removing reviews, it's really hurting sales. I wish Amazon would cross post reviews from Goodreads. I always have so many more reviews on Goodreads than Amazon.
  4. Goodbye Createspace  KDP moved all my books over from Createspace, which caused a few glitches. I'm trying to get everything sorted out, and I'm not happy that I'll need to reorder proofs I've already paid for. As if authors make good money to have to pay for things twice, right?
  5. Halloween  I admit my house is already decorated for Halloween. I couldn't help myself.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. I'm thinking about Halloween now, but nothing definite as of yet.

I did some more editing of my memoir today. Im trying to get it entered in Blydyn Square Books's publishing contest.

  2. Sorry about the strike. Teachers are rather underpaid and underappreciated so I hope things work out for them. Sorry for Amazon making trouble for you too.

I foresee the next couple of months being in editing hell, so yay?

    1. The strike was settled last night! Yay!

I love editing, but I'm know I'm weird in that aspect. ;)

  3. Hi Kelly - I do hope Ayla's school does get itself sorted out. Well I'll guess she'll have enjoyed helping you with the Halloween dressing - enjoy! Good luck with the other things - Amazon is sadly messing everyone around except itself ... cheers Hilary

  5. I'm really upset with Amazon. They've deleted all my reviews and won't allow me to write any more. When I questioned them, it amounts to them believing my reviews are biased for friends, publishers, etc. I told them I was insulted. Of course it was a form letter. Anyhow, I'm not buying any more books from them. My books are there but that's a different story. I hope they don't remove the reviews from Good Reads too. So far they haven't. Sorry for my long post.

    1. I haven't been able to review there in years. I was told that because I'm an author, I'm ineligible to review books. They threatened to close my account if I did.

  6. Halloween, already? Actually, not that surprising for an author who's first book was Touch of Death :)

  7. I had no idea about Amazon removing reviews. I did notice they are getting WAY stricter about reviews though. I haven't delved into Halloween yet but I'm so happy it's fall.
