Monday Mishmash 2/11/19

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Drafting  I'm working on drafting book five in the Piper Ashwell Psychic P.I. series. With a book coming out every two and a half months, I have to stay ahead of these releases and constantly be working on the next book.
  2. Giveaways  Since I've been doing monthly giveaways, I created a page on my website where you can find my current giveaway: https://www.kellyhashway.com/giveaway  The one that's running now is for a signed paperback ARC of Manuscripts and Murder.
  3. Editing  I finished up a big edit and have another one coming my way in a few days.
  4. Pinterest  I now have a Pinterest page for my cozy mysteries! If you'd like to follow me, you can find it here.
  5. Blogger issues  I'm really confused by this, but apparently Google+ is the cause of the issues with Blogger. Isn't Blogger run by Google? I've tried everything, but I can't seem to fix the commenting issue I'm having despite doing what Blogger instructed me to do. I'm contemplating switching blog hosts, but with all I have going on right now, I'm not sure I want to devote the time to moving to Wordpress, which I loathe.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Google+ is being removed completely, I think by April. That may be part of the issue with you at present.

I know you've mentioned that you're having issues in terms of comments on other blogs. Are you using Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or IE for your browser? I've heard of issues with Safari.

And it might be beneficial to switch your comments option to a popup window as opposed to the current status, but I doubt that's the issue.

  2. Your pinterest page is adorable!
Google + is apparently going away. Google giveth and so they taketh away "go to low use." Blogger is a different Google product. If your google account is going through Google plus, it's likely limping. Beginning Feb 4th I could no longer link my posts to Google plus, and in April it will disappear altogether. But Blogger will not, at least for now.

  3. That should have been "Due to low usage."

  4. Kelly, I copied and pasted this from the Google information to all blogger bloggers. I think you issues are related to this:

Following the announcement of Google+ API deprecation scheduled for March 2019, a number of changes will be made to Blogger’s Google+ integration on 4 February 2019.

Google+ widgets: Support for the “+1 Button”, “Google+ Followers” and “Google+ Badge” widgets in Layout will no longer be available. All instances of these widgets will be removed from your blog.

+1 buttons: The +1/G+ buttons and Google+ share links below blog posts and in the navigation bar will be removed.

Please note that if you have a custom template that includes Google+ features, you may need to update your template. Please contact your template supplier for advice.

Google+ Comments: Support for Google+ comments will be turned down, and all blogs using Google+ comments will be reverted back to using Blogger comments. Unfortunately, comments posted as Google+ comments cannot be migrated to Blogger and will no longer appear on your blog.

  5. I tried deleting my Google+ account, but that doesn't appear to have fixed anything either.
