Monday Mishmash 12/19/11

Happy Monday! I've got a lot on my mind today.
  1. Christmas  One week till Christmas! Woo hoo! My daughter is so excited and that makes me excited. I still have gifts arriving by mail, but that's okay.
  2. Editing  I've been editing like crazy the past two weeks. There must be something in the air because everyone is submitting stuff to me lately. I love it!
  3. New WIP  I've finally figured out this WIP idea that's been tripping me up. Silly me, I was taking the story in the wrong direction. It's all straightened out now.
  4. Closing out the year  I'm getting ready to wrap up 2011, which has been an awesome year for me. So many great things happened this year, and I'm thankful for all of them.
  5. Asphodel  My agent's latest book comes out this week. I'm reading it now and it's awesome! Definitely check it out.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

    2. Decorating
    3. Helping kids make gifts for ilaws
    4. Help husband figure out what type of house to build.
    5. Write?

  5. Kelly, you have a busy week. At least I hope you don't have to accomplish all that today. Good luck!

  6. Sounds like you're having a great time! For me, my Monday is slowing to its end. I'm scheduling my Tweets for CarryUsOff and sending private X'mas messages to few friends. (And I thought I couldn't multi-task ...)

  7. Claudine, I knew you could multi-task. :) Have a great night.

  8. Congrats on righting your WIP - that's always a relief and enjoy the holidays!

  9. Jaye, actually I didn't write it yet. I just figured out how I'm going to write it. I like to plan ahead. But thanks anyway. :) Enjoy the holidays.

  10. I'm composing a few more blog posts, namely for my Toys For Tots drive and an inspirational post if I can get to publishing it. I just seem to be so busy at work during the holidays, probably because so many people have taken annual leave and I didn't. lol

    Totally my fault!

  11. Diane, while am I envisioning you putting in for leave next December as I type this? LOL

  12. I'm also excited about christmas! My kids have a little chalkboard to count down the days, and they eagerly update it every morning. It's really cute. :)

Glad to hear you've had a great year! It's been good for me, too. Insanely busy, but good. :)

  13. I haven't had time to finish my Christmas shopping. ACK! I haven't even started to send Christmas cards. After my book launch tomorrow, I think I may sleep for an afternoon, and then get into high gear!

  14. Surviving the week before Christmas is always a challenge at my house. Oh I'm excited, but a challenge it still is.

Good luck on your WIP. I hate when that happens. My chacters get a bit testy with me when I wont let them do what they want to do.

  15. I'm excited beyond words that today is my first blog interview for my novel "Concilium" releasing in July 2012. Barbara Ehrentreu, author of “If I Could Be Like Jennifer Taylor,” has been kind enough to interview me on her blog. This is my first interview. I’d love to have you stop by: http://barbaraehrentreu.blogspot.com/

  16. Tabitha, my daughter has a countdown where she moves the Christmas tree to a different number each day. It's the first thing we do each morning. :)

  17. Catherine, you have a lot going on right now. That's perfectly understandable. Enjoy your book birthday tomorrow!

  18. Courtney, thanks. I always give in and let my characters lead. There's just no way to control them. ;)

  19. Congrats, Michelle. I'm heading over now.

  20. Sounds like things are going great for you. Merry Christmas.

  21. Lady Kelly

Yay! One week till Christmas! Woo hoo! One week 'till I have two weeks off! :-)

Editing. Lordy - I wish I could afford an editor. Else I'd be submitting to you like crazy... (no - I know you're more than reasonable, wise one. But it fits the pattern of stealing your post :-P).

New WIP. I've almost-finally decided to carry on with Jack Shadow. Now all I have to do is start typing to see how long it is... :-)

Closing out the year. I'm more than ready to wrap up 2011. Not that it was a bad year, but it has to get out of the way for 2012. Why 2012? Because...

... 'A Comedy of Terrors'. My, um, my me's book comes out in July 2012. I'd say it was awesome, but I'd have to confess to a tiny bit of predi-juice... er, produ-gist... er, pradagast.... er, bias :-).

And what's on my mind? Well, it's all Michael Scott's fault. Somehow charles Dickens led to the Beard of Avon, and the Seven Ages of Write...

  22. Graeme, your book is coming out in July? Really? Congrats, my friend. That's great news. I'm heading over to your blog to check out today's post.

  23. I’m hoping to have something on my mind. This time of year with all its special TO-DOs has me temporarily blank.
Happy Holidays to you and yours, Kelly!

  24. Loved your list of mishmash. Hope all items arrive on time.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Donna, thanks. I hope so too. Though two of the gifts might turn out to be for my daughter's birthday in two months. I may have gone overboard with the Christmas presents. I'll have to see when I dig them all out on Christmas Eve. That's the downside of buying things here and there throughout the year. You don't know how much you actually have.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I started keeping a spreadsheet, to avoid overbuying... then my family switched to kids only, and now they're big, so my shopping is minimal. I do kind of miss the delight and excitement of buying & wrapping for the little ones.

In the end, it'll all work out. :-)

  27. Beverly, my family and friends just do for kids, too. But my daughter is only four, so it's still a lot. She's the only granddaughter on my side of the family, so she gets spoiled.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Looking forward to Christmas, will have a house full, and lots of little ones to spoil.

Hoping to get 5 or 6 of my short pieces revised by the end of the year so they will be ready to go out in Jan.

Oh, did I mention plumbing? ...Never mind.

    ReplyDelete
  29. rick, plumbing? Eek! That's never fun. Good luck with those short pieces. :)

  30. I love that moment when you figure out how a story was going in the wrong direction! Congrats on what sounds like an eventful and accomplished week.

  31. I am celebrating completing the tense changes on my project! I am almost, like hopefully tomorrow, posting on my new site. Other than that, on my mind is my complete boycott of stress in December. So far so good. My daughter is home form school, which is the best present I could ask for.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Brenda, I know how hard you work on that tense change, and seriously the story is better for it. Now you can relax. Yay! Enjoy having your daughter home.

  33. I'm just working, working, working at my "real" job through Thursday, and for the evenings I have 1.) Mass IX practice on Monday, 2.) Mass IX practice on Tuesday, 3.) Mass IX practice and dog sitting at a neighbour's house Wednesday, 4.) Mass IX practice and get-together at a friend's house Thursday, 5.) Christmas shopping with the little girls and Mass IX practice on Friday, 6.) Christmas baking and Mass IX practice before Midnight Mass on Saturday, 7.) CHRISTMAS!

I'm filled up. Oh, and there's a critique I need to do somewhere in there. Blister.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cat, good luck with Mass practice. I'm sure it will be amazing on Saturday. Merry Christmas!

  35. What a great end to 2011 you seem to be having. Yay!
I have just finished my Christmas shopping... Now to wrap!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Michelle, happy wrapping. I'll have a few more things to wrap in two days. I'm cutting it close with the things I ordered.

  37. Doesn't it feel good to straighten out a story and unravel where it went wrong? Lot of work, though. Good job on figuring it out! Just writing here, and trying to get at it regularly rather than in spurts.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Girl Parker, yes, it's such a relief when things fall into place. Good luck with your writing. I hope you find time regularly.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ha ha, we still have gifts arriving by mail too! We're keeping our fingers crossed that they arrive before Christmas...

    Jeremy

  40. Jeremy, according to my tracking updates, mine should be arriving tomorrow. Phew! Crossing my fingers for you.
