1. New Cover for Inbetween Tara Fuller's upcoming YA release, Inbetween, has a new cover:
3. Only 6 months until Touch of Death! Yesterday marked exactly 6 months until the release of my debut YA! Eep! I'm excited, so I'm doing a giveaway. What can you win? I have the typical SWAG (bookmarks and stickers) and some not so typical SWAG: a compact mirror with the 13th sign of the zodiac and a zombie deer. Yes, I said zombie deer. So, Jodi, my MC, is a necromancer and the first thing she brings back to life is a deer. My amazing editor Trisha Wooldridge kiddingly said I should giveaway zombie deer. So I am! My very talented sister, Heather DeRobertis, owns a company called True Poison, and she specializes in all things creepy and totally awesome. She made this deer—the only of it's kind—for me. I loved it and asked for more. The others are a little different. This is the only one that has intestines falling out of it. Are you grossed out? Well, it's actually adorable. Check it out:
Who wouldn't want to cuddle up with that? So, fill out the rafflecopter form below to enter to win. This contest is open until Friday, and I'll announce the winner on next week's mishmash.
And since it's Monday, what's on your mind today?
I love the new Inbetween cover!
ReplyDeleteI don't want to ever see a horse as a zombie. Or clown zombies ::shudders::
Thank you for the giveaway!
Oh a clown zombie! Yeah, that would be frightening! LOL
DeleteOmg, your mc is a necromancer!? The only book where I have read a little about a necromancer is The Demon Trappers series by Jana Oliver and I always wanted to learn more about them. I cant wait to read your book. Should be getting my copy next month I think!
ReplyDeleteYes, she is! I haven't even gotten a copy yet. I can't wait though!
DeleteLooking forward to the release of your new book. Not long now.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Fi! The first 6 months flew by. I'm sure these will, too.
DeleteLove the cover, Isn't it weird that it takes so long???
ReplyDeleteIt's not feeling long to me since I've been in edits and it just recently went to galleys. It definitely feels longer to the reader.
DeleteI like the cover for In Between. Reminds me a lot of Lisa Schroeder's I Heart You, You Haunt Me (which is one of my favorite books.)
ReplyDeleteI'm not good at titles, either, and my agent asked me to come up with a new one for my picture book. If a title doesn't come to me as I'm writing a story, I usually have a terrible time coming up with one. She ended up coming up with one that we're using while it's on submission. Good luck with yours!
My agent titled Touch of Death because my title was awful! LOL. What is it about titles that so tough. I have another book that my agent loved and told me, "You have to title it!" Oh, it was tough, but eventually the perfect title came to me right before we went on submission. :)
DeleteThat deer is great! Can hardly wait, Kelly :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katie. This deer is the only of its kind. The others kind of make me want to cuddle them and they are made with different materials. This is like the prototype in a why. I'm sure he'll find a happy home with the lucky winner. :)
DeleteJust when I think I'd heard of everything... zombie deer. Well, why not? And it is kinda cute.
ReplyDeleteI struggle with titles, too - but I think part of it is I'm not willing to spend as long on them as I am on the "real" writing. I might rewrite my opening paragraph 50 or more times and think nothing of it, but I begrudge not being able to think of a great title after 30 minutes. For me the key is getting a working title then walking away from it and coming back a few times (and I'm still not usually happy with what I settle on).
I hate to admit I've had to have my agent title two of my manuscripts. Thank God she's awesome with titles. :)
DeleteYay for Touch Of Death release! In the begining of this year, 2013 sounded like a million years away. Now we are almost there. :) so excited. Ah, you are right, Kelly. The dear is adorable, cuddleworthy. I love this new cover of In Between.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cecilia. I think the other deer are slightly more cuddly because they are a softer material. This one is the true zombie deer, the one and only.
DeleteZombie deer, who knew? But it really works and is definitely one of the most original pieces of swag I have come across. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I have to give credit to my editor, Trisha, for the idea and to Heather for creating it.
DeleteCongrats on the six month mark! And yay for zombies! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I moved my blog to another location -- you've seen that, and I'm still learning to do new stuff in the kitchen.
Yes, I've seen your new blog. I tried a wordpress blog once but I was confused by it. LOL. Blogger was easier for me, so here I am. :)
DeleteDid someone say zombie deer? Sign me up. I'm so excited for your book to come out. And for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah. Good luck!
DeleteIt won't be long now, I'm so excited for you! Goodluck with the title for your PB. I'm actually pretty good with titles but am hoping my publisher doesnt ask me to change mine!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Allyn. I know one of my PBs with Guardian Angel will also have a title change because they mentioned it upfront. :( Oh well!

ReplyDeleteHahaha! That deer is awesome! Yay for the countdown to release day!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I like him. :)
DeleteWow, you've got mad Rafflecopter skills! Fun giveaway :D
ReplyDeleteLOL. You should have seen the first time I tried to use Rafflecopter. Thankfully, they have a step by step tutorial. :)
DeleteSuper excited for you! Have a cup of coffee and relax, you deserve it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diane! I'm dancing around the house with my daughter. She loves to celebrate with me. Coffee has been had. ;)
DeletePoor Bambi. Hope you have a great week Kelly!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Thanks! You too.
DeleteThe deer is so unique! Congrats on being 6 months away. Good luck coming up with a new title- I agree with you that titles are hard.
ReplyDeleteToday I have lots and lots of writing to do!
~Jess
Thanks, Jess! Good luck with your writing.
DeleteThe deer is abso-frikkin-lutely awesome (and so is your sister - and so are YOU)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 6 month mark - I can NOT wait to read ToD and you know it! <3
Aw, thank you! Good luck in the giveaway!
DeleteThe fact that your MC is a necromancer makes it a must-read for me. Love dark fiction and i'm getting a bit bored with what is becoming the "everyday vampire."
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice of your sister to create that zombie deer, Something really special to commemorate the release of your new book. I don't know if it were me that i'd be able to part with it.
Best Of Luck With Your Newest Release!
~MA
I have more zombie deer. The is the first and the only of its kind, but there are others in the works. :)
DeleteTouch of Death looks like it's going to be a fab read! I'm looking forward to it :o) That zombie deer is so cool, I've definitely not come across one of those before LOL
ReplyDeleteYeah, you don't see zombie deer every day. That's probably a good thing, too. ;)
DeleteNow that I've been traumatized by a the widget - I don't think an elephant would make an attractive zombie, nor would I come to think of it. On my mind are my aching muscles from a grueling workout session yesterday. Well, you did ask. Looking forward to reading Touch of Death. Six months - really? Dang.
ReplyDeleteAw, sorry the widget traumatized you, Brenda. :( I'll have a talk with it. ;)
DeleteI really loved the cover Kelly!!! and the deer :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nikky!
DeleteI'm no good with titles either! The book I'm finishing has a title almost the exact same to way too many other books (including one by a crit partner). The one in revisions barely has a name. It's tentative at best and will most definitely be changed.
ReplyDeleteBy the way... I LOVE THE DEER!!
I had this problem with one of my YA manuscripts. My agent asked me to change it and she ultimately wound up titling it for me. Bless her!
DeleteThanks!
Can't wait to read it - put me on the ARC list please!
ReplyDeleteKim, if you want to request an ARC go to http://www.site.spencerhillpress.com/Reviewers.html and fill out the form. :)
DeleteCan't wait for my ARC! :]
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a must read for 2013!
Congrats Kelly!
I would NEVER want to see zombie ants...
I mean how many ants get killed in a day?
Now think if the zombie virus mutated and became dormant until death...
We would be over run with killer zombie ants in a very short amount of time ^^
Ooh, that would be bad!
DeleteA zombie deer?? You gotta love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteThat is THE cutest zombie deer I've ever seen. ;) Thanks for the giveaway, Kelly. Can't wait for the release!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denise. Heather did an amazing job on the zombie deer. Good luck!
DeleteKelly, how fun is this! I love that deer. How creative! I went to your sister's website and I love the flower clip-ons. I will give her address to my daughter-in-law. I hope I've done everything right here. Good luck with this!
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty, aren't they? My sister makes some really awesome stuff. :)
DeleteAny girl that brings a deer back to life is my heroine. I love the deer. What great swag. Going to enter now.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Good luck, Beverly!
DeleteI wasn't sure what that was until I saw "zombie deer."
ReplyDeleteI like the cover of Inbetween.
LOL. Yup, it's a zombie deer. :)
DeleteThank you for visitng my blog ravensartshack. I am following your exciting blog. Both you and your sister are very talented! :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! That's so sweet of you to say.
DeleteEew! The deer's guts are falling out! How delightfully icky! lol
ReplyDeleteCongrats on passing the 6 months mark; you'll get to the release day before you know it. :-)
Thanks! Yes, his guts might be falling out. He's the only zombie deer I have whose guts are hanging out. It makes him unique. The others are more cuddly and cute--for zombies. ;)
DeleteI can now say I've seen everything and mean it. A zombie deer? And cuddly too? Here's to a great release, Kelly. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lee! :)
DeleteThanks! And good luck.
ReplyDeleteOoh, only six months! Yay, hurray! It's getting closer. :)
ReplyDeleteUm, an animal I wouldn't want to see as a zombie? A shark. A killer shark. Definitely not one of those. Can a zombie shark stalk land too, since it's already dead? Hmmmm.
I agree. I'm terrified of sharks and a zombie shark would be soooo scary!
DeleteZombie deer.lol That's awesome! Thanks so much for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Good luck!
DeleteOh, sure, the zombie deer is cute. That's how the zombie apocalypse starts.... a cute walking dead Bambi.
ReplyDeleteLOL. You might be right.
