Monday Mishmash 10/1/12

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:

  1. Fangs, Fur, and Fey Giveaway  I'll be posting an extra day this week because I'm taking part in the Fangs, Fur, and Fey Giveaway beginning at midnight. Be sure to stop back for your chance to win a free book.
  2. Free monthly newsletter  It's October now, so my free monthly newsletter will go out later today. If you aren't signed up and would like to receive it, you can do so by clicking here.
  3. Rewrite is complete  I finished my rewrite of INTO THE FIRE. I'm so happy with how the story turned out. Sometimes rewriting is easier and better than revising.
  4. Reading  It is so nice to actually have time to read again!
  5. October  October is my favorite month because I love the smell in the air. That crispness that just makes you want to breathe it in. I love the fall.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Oh, I love giveaways. Speaking of that, congrats on the gift card you won for Sheri's giveaway.

Big congrats on finishing your rewrite! That is excellent.

I very much relate to the wondeful air in the fall, it is such a nice season. I feel especially lucky to be traveling and seeing changing of leaves.

On my mind - I'm half way through a short story and super excited about it. Also thrilled about the PitchOn workshop coming up. Lastly, I'm very happy about the return of so many TV shows I love this season. I will be watching Grimm and Once Upon A Time on hulu tomorrow.

Hope you have a great start to your week Kelly and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    1. Thank you, Emilyann! Good luck with your short story. I'm excited for the season premiere of Supernatural. I'm a paranormal nut. :) I do want to check out Once Upon a Time but I usually write in the evenings and it means I miss out on a lot good shows.
Enjoy your travels and be safe!

    1. Eee! You got Touch of Death! I'm so excited for you to read it! Yay!

I love pumpkin seeds but I don't eat pumpkin anything else. LOL. I'm weird like that.

  3. congrats on completing the rewrites :) I miss reading, but hope to get back to it soon. :) I love fall as well. The air smells fresh-er. The other day I saw a couple of wooden huts already up on streets corners, roasting chestnuts and potatoes. I just love the smell. Precious.

  4. Congrats on completing the rewrite Kelly. I love walks on those crisp Autumn days with blue skies. It's pouring with rain here at the moment, but hopefully the weather will improve so I can get out and kick the leaves!

  6. Yeah for reading time. I got a lot of good books at the ATBF this past weekend and just found out I won the amazon GC from JL's Spencer Hill Blog run. Yeah for more books!

  7. I agree with you on the smell of fall. I love this time of year :-) Maybe it's good for productivity too? I suppose we will find out.
How do you tackle your rewriting? I got some feedback from an online critique group and although what they suggest isn't a rewrite I think it will improve the story. My issue? Staring at the first few chapters, again! I guess it's best just to dive in and start deleting and writing.
Happy fall and congrats on finishing the rewrite. I am still so excited for you.

    1. I find rewriting is easiest when you open a blank document. Don't try to play around with what you already have. Start fresh. It frees your mind and doesn't restrict you. Yes, you can pull things from the old draft, but get going first. That's what works for me.

  8. October and December are by far my favorite months! October because it really feels like fall and December because of all the holiday celebrations :P

    Have a great week!

  9. Congratulations on finishing the rewrite!

I like October too, as we "let the holidays begin!" starting with daughter's birthday at the end of the month. :)

  10. I love October too Kelly. The weather is still warm here but the humidity has fallen away! Breathe? No, we can't in our valley they scalp off the old grass to plant winter grass. Most smart folks get the heck out of here around now. :)

  12. I'm with you, Kelly. Having the time to read is a wonderful feeling. I want to curl up in my favorite chair with some hot chocolate and read me a really juicy romance right about now. :D

  13. Yep. October is among my favorite months, too! It's the promise of cool nights and hot cocoa by a fire that makes me feel wonderful. Besides, there's Halloween and that's the best holiday for me to celebrate. Just fun. Just a touch of the grim. Oh, and lots of candy.

  14. Congrats on finishing your rewrite. I wish I had more time to read. I have to schedule in my reading time or I'd never do it. So sad. ;)

  15. Yes, I love October. We already grew our pumpkins and had one on display in the kitchen.

  16. I love the fall, too! The smell, crispness, and vibrant colors are all some of the reasons I look forward to this season. The fall foods make it great and delicious. Glad you are getting more time to read!

  17. I don't get all that excited about the fall. More of a spring and summer person. I am keen on the beach in winter. Nothing exciting to report from my hood. Writing and enjoying the stories in my head.

  18. October is a favourite month of mine too. This week, I'm readjusting routines, battling with a final chapter and writing fundraising sheets for my business. Think this week may be a struggle.

  19. Here's another vote for October. It’s also the moth I became a mother for the second time.

  20. I also love October. The weather finally cools down in Florida.

I might be doing a rewrite soon. I'm glad yours went well. :)
