Monday Mishmash 11/19/12

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:

  1. Thanksgiving  Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I got to help out with my daughter's Thanksgiving program at school. It was so much fun and so cute.
  2. Editing  I've been editing a lot lately for clients. Other than being a writer and a mom, editing is such an amazing job. I get to read awesome manuscripts and help other writers.
  3. Holiday cards  The photo cards I ordered came in. Now I just need to print my labels and mail them.
  4. Author events  I was at the Cops and Kids Reading Room on Saturday, reading my picture book, May the Best Dog Win. These events are always so much fun, and it was sponsored by Just Born candy company.
  5. Touch of Death Blog Tour  I have some great stops coming up on my blog tour, including giveaways, character interviews (so fun!), and reviews. Here are two amazing stops in case you missed them here and here.

That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Sounds like you've had and will be having a wonderful time.

Personally, I'm trying to catch up with my NaNoWriMo attempt, waiting on my husband reading through my second draft, preparing for a beta test of a new site my husband has developed, and preparing for Christmas. Busy, busy, busy.

  2. I love being busy. I am developing some programs (webinars, retreats, etc,) and updating my website. Then I will coast and get back to my manuscript.

  3. Hey Kelly,
impressed that you've already got holiday cards underway. I'm thinking about how I'm going to write about my lit zine using the 'next big thing questions'--they don't really fit, but I'm going to find a way to get around it! Also, trying to finish up a scene for my short story class tonight.

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Kelly! Aw...sounds like you had so much fun at your daughter's school. And it's good that you enjoy editing. It shows, because you've done a great job with Reaper's. :)

  5. I'm still waiting on my holiday cards. I ordered them early for once, though. Kind of proud of myself. lol

  6. I'm trying to get some writing in before shopping for the Thursday dinner, and after a couple years with not feeling up to doing something special, I'm ready to treat myself this year.

Washing dishes aside (The ONLY part I loathe), cooking isn't drudgery to me, I love it.

Also, I'm doing a lot of reading over the next few weeks. Something I missed when I had stint of "Reader's Block" much of this year.

  10. Your editing clients are lucky to have you too, Kelly!

Your daughter's Thanksgiving event sounds adorable. I think my mom still has a tape of mine from 2nd grade (I did this whole turkey dance... so embarrassing, lol).

    1. Aw, thanks, Nickie!

Yes, it was adorable. Unfortunately, Ayla didn't feel well and I ended up taking her home as soon as it was over. She's better now though.

  12. Busy girl. I love editing for others as well. It's great to read new manuscripts and know that I'm a part of helping that writer craft a better story.

  13. Happy Thanksgiving! I'm trying to get ready for T. day, picked up my Christmas cards, proofreading WIP and trying to figure out if things knocked over on the deck last night was because of the wind or the resident raccoon and/or opposum.

    1. Oh no, I hope it was just wind. LOL Happy Thanksgiving!

  15. Even though you love being busy, I hope you can relax a little on Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Thanks for responding to my letter from WD. Such a shame it's going away.

  17. I've stopped doing cards several years ago, but I still get cards and now I'm starting to feel guilty. I've been accumulating addresses over these past few years, so maybe I'll start back, who knows. Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Go ecard if you're going to start back up. It's a lot easier. If I didn't do the photo cards (because relatives want pictures of my daughter) I'd do ecards. Happy Thanksgiving!

  18. 1. NaNoWrimo: It's going to be another writing Thanksgiving and I'll have plenty of time for it, so that's awesome.
    2. Rejection: Dealing with it, recovering from it, learning from it.
    3. Relocating: Still settling into my new job in a new home in a new city.
    4. Distractions: I feel like I'm being pulled in a ton of different directions at once.
    5. Fitness/Nutrition: I need to craft a plan to deal with all of the holiday food!

    1. Enjoy writing on Thanksgiving. I have to say I don't like the food all that much, so eating too much is never an issue on this holiday. Good luck dealing with rejection. It's never easy, but you will get through it.

  21. I've done a fair amount of editing for people. It includes genres that I otherwise wouldn't tend to read...

    1. I edit everything, but I do tend to read at least a little of every genre. Paranormal is still my favorite though.
