The Sweets Blogfest is here! Beth Fred and I are cohosting this blogfest all about sweets. Participants will be posting about all things sweet: favorite sweet literary couples, favorite sweet romances, favorite sweets (candy), and there's a giveaway!
I'm sharing two sweet romances, one by Beth and one by me. Beth is offering up a copy of her book, The Other Marlowe Girl and I'm offering up a copy of Love All, the first novella in the Game. Set. Match. Heartbreak series.
THE OTHER MARLOWE GIRL (Book 2 in The Marlowe Girls Series)
Summary:
When twenty-four-year-old dance school drop out Kammy Marlowe is evicted by her mother, she goes to her favorite hangout. She finds an unlikely friend in the blunt eye candy, Enrique. But Kammy knows there is no way she and Enrique have a shot because he's her brother-in-law’s brother and has been privy to her wild past.
Enrique swears he’s only interested in the person she is today, but their relationship is tested when her ex-husband's drug dealer attacks her, looking for money. With no options and a money hungry drug dealer on her back, Kammy accepts a position as a dancer at a strip club. But when Enrique shows up at the club, their relationship is over. With no reason to stay in Texas anymore, Kammy auditions for the Bolshevik Ballet and gets the opportunity to go to Russia. Only Enrique is determined to stop her.
Will she give up the chance of a lifetime to stay with the man she still loves?
ADVANTAGE:
HEARTBREAK (Novella #2 in the Game. Set. Match. Heartbreak Series)
Summary:
Seventeen-year-old
Meg Flannigan thought she’d made up her mind about love. But with two guys
still vying for her attention, she wonders if she made the right decision. Ash
is everything she’s ever wanted in a boyfriend: loyal, loving, and totally hot.
But then there’s Noah: fun, sexy, and the more he sticks around, the more Meg
wants him there.
What’s
a girl to do?
Make
up her mind, before it’s too late! Gorgeous freshman Liz has set her sights on
Ash, and Noah is beginning to remind Meg of her last boyfriend—the one who
broke her heart. Can she figure things out before she ruins not one, but two
relationships? Or is she doomed to serve up heartbreak?
The giveaway will run from March 6th through 8pm (EST) on March 10th.

What's your favorite sweet?
It's so nice to see your and Beth's new books - they sound terrific!
ReplyDeleteI'm a chocolate-lover all the way! :-)
I love dark chocolate. It has health benefits, too. :)
DeleteLove all of these books! Chiming in as a chocolate lover too!
ReplyDeleteAh, chocolate. ;)
DeleteWhile I'm a chocolate lover, I've grown partial to New York cheesecake. While I love a classic lemon-vanilla. sometimes I like chocolate-epresso
ReplyDeleteThis is my go-to recipe-
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/chocolate-espresso-cheesecake-with-ganache-recipe/index.html
It's a bit labor intensive, but I promise you, the flavor's worth it.
As far as chocolate goes, chocolate chip cookies are still my favorite, though I prefer the crunchy, semi-chewy kind as opposed to the straight chewy variety, I like some heft. This is one of my go-to recipes-
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/chocolate-chunk-cookies-recipe/index.html
A close third are doughnuts. I prefer making them than buying them ready made. I figure if I'm going to indulge, I'll get better flavor, and control the integrity of the ingredients.
For instance, I'll know there's REAL blueberries in the blueberry cake doughnut, or REAL strawberries in the strawberry jelly doughnut, no artificial flavors or preservatives.
Health food they are not, but you can at least be assured there's nothing in here that belongs in a chemist lab rather than a home kitchen.
Plus, there are great recipes where they're baked not fried, though those often require a pan,not much more expensive than a good muffin tin, if you know where to look.
This a great cookbook on doughnuts-
http://www.amazon.com/Top-Pot-Hand-Forged-Doughnuts-Secrets/dp/1452102120/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362573744&sr=8-1&keywords=Top+Pot+Hand-Forged+Doughnuts%3A+Secrets+and+Recipes+for+the+Home+Baker
Or you can use the brioche (Egg-based bread) dough recipe from "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking" That makes great doughnuts, too.
I own a copy and use it often It's got great approachable recipes for even the least confident bakers to pull off.
You can find the brioche recipe available on the book's official blog site-
http://www.artisanbreadinfive.com/2008/09/24/brioche-dough-recipe-and-all-of-its-wonderful-uses
I'm glad the authors shared this and a few other recipes free, the brioche recipe convinced me to buy the book. Before I used Ina Garten's brioche recipe, which works just as well, but requires more steps and longer rise times.
Yeesh, there I go rambling again, but I can't help it, I'm keen on baking.
Taurean, you just made me very hungry! :)
DeleteBoth books look great. Can't wait to check them out :)
ReplyDeleteIt's really hard choosing a favorite sweet, but I'm crazy about candied fruit, so that's my pick.
Have fun with the blog tour!
Thanks, Ella. I'm not sure I've ever had candied fruit, but now I want to try it.
