- Scholastic Book Fair I'm working at my daughter's school this week for the Scholastic Book Fair. You know that means buying lots of books. :)
- Fast Drafting Last week I decided to clear my schedule and finish fast drafting the sequel to Into the Fire (which is called Out of the Ashes). It felt so good to write over 10K a day and finish the draft.
- Beth Fred's Blurb Writing Course My friend Beth Fred is teaching an online crash course on writing blurbs. Her technique got her a 50% full request rate, which is impressive on its own, but it also snagged her an agent and a publishing deal. Classes start the first week in October, so click here to sign up now.
- Catching Up On Reading Since I'll be busy at my daughter's school this week, I decided to focus on finishing up the books I've been trying to read during the end of summer. Reading is such a nice reward after finishing a draft, too.
- I Am Yours Cover Reveal I'm so excited to share the cover of Faith Sullivan's upcoming book, I Am Yours. I love the Heartbeat series and the MC, Adam. *Swoon* I can't wait until October 8 when it releases! So here's the cover:
Adam is at a crossroads.
He has Katie on his mind and Jada in his bed.
Now with the ultimate choice before him, he must decide
between fantasy and reality.
Katie's his dream girl, but Jada's his best friend, his
partner. As a paramedic, he's supposed to save lives, not wreck them. Yet his
failure to commit leaves a trail of heartache in his wake.
Things come to a head at his brother's wedding when a
surprise announcement leaves Adam scrambling to pick up the pieces. Sure, women
find his shaggy blond hair and aquamarine eyes irresistible. But to him, sex is
nothing but a means of escape ... until it turns into a psychological trap.
His mind is telling him one thing, while his heart is
beating another. He's not sure what he wants when it comes to a serious
relationship. Sorting out his feelings, he finally comes to a startling
realization.
Add it on Goodreads.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?
Swoon indeed. What a nice cover.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with it.
DeleteNice cover! I'm working full time again and I miss volunteering at my kids school. Yay for being able to finish your draft. I just started a great book by Katie Klein.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves when I'm at her school. I'm enjoying that while it lasts. ;)
DeleteI always loved the Scholastic Book Fairs. As a child, my mom used to order just a few books for my sister and me and we couldn't have been happier! It is still a DREAM of mine to someday have one of my children's books published and available through Scholastic. Give your friend some congrats on the Blurb class; that's wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteI will, Gina.
DeleteYes, book fairs are so much fun!
I love how you fast draft with such resolve.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Faith! Lovely cover...
lol I think I'm a little crazy when I fast draft, but it works for me. ;)
DeleteLovely cover. Congrats on finishing your fast draft. Wish I could write that fast, but I'm just the slow turtle crawiling along. I get there, but it takes awhile. :) Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is different. There's nothing wrong with that.
DeleteEnjoy your week. :)
Sounds like you have a fun week coming up.
ReplyDeleteMy mind is focused on finishing a rewrite so that I can draft again. :-)
Good luck with your rewrite.
DeleteI think I will check out your friend's blurb-writing course. It is so difficult after writing more than 60,000 words in a novel to condense it into a paragraph. Thanks for the head's up! Good luck with the book fair.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is!
DeleteHave fun at the book fair!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ann!
DeleteCongrats on finishing the draft. And have fun at the book fair! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your fast drafting works. Whenever I try, I realize I'm making big mistakes with character, pacing, or suspense, and then everything comes to a halt while I go back and figure out how to fix it. I LOVE the name of your new sequel. You do an awesome job with titles. :-)
ReplyDeleteOn Wednesday, I'm sharing how I can fast draft like that. It's a lot of organized chaos. ;)
DeleteOh, I'm usually terrible with titles. They take me forever to come up with, but for some reason this series just came to me. Thankfully!
I'm so jealous you get to work the book fair. I came across one of the 8 page flyers they send home with kids last week and I was tempted to send in an order (even though I don't have a kid at the school). :)
ReplyDeletelol I ordered online and I'll be buying books at the fair this week. I have a problem. ;)
DeleteFaith's cover looks good!
ReplyDeleteAh! It's so fabulous to have time set aside just for reading. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI will. Thanks, Kiersi!
DeleteOh how cool! Though I'd spend waaay too much money volunteering at a book fair. When Scholastic came to my school, it was like crack for me as a kid!
ReplyDeleteLOL Same here. I spend so much money at the book fairs. I'm working there three days in a row, and I'll probably buy books each day.
DeleteI LOVE that book fairs still exist! My daughter has just started "real school" (she's been homeschooled for the past two years) so I'm hoping they'll have a book fair at her school, too!
DeleteHi Kelly...are you hopping on a plane and popping in to my launch party on Dec 3rd? Shoulda had your FB invite...Know you are busy busy, but love to see you there, even for a few minutes!!
ReplyDeleteOoh, Carol, send me the details. I'm assuming this is a virtual launch, right? Not that I wouldn't love to come to your neck of the woods. ;)
DeleteEnjoy your volunteering at the book fair. I loved my days there, and now get misty-eyed thinking about it...
ReplyDeleteyou're so well suited for this duty!
I spent a ton of money my first day. lol
DeleteI miss book fairs ;) Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I spent way too much already. lol
DeleteI've been working on some fun early promo things for Gabriel. Can't wait to share them.
ReplyDeleteOoh, fun!
