Monday Mishmash 8/18/14

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. I'm home!  I finally got to go home this weekend. The walls are back up and most are painted. Two more floors have to be installed, and the kitchen still needs to be finished, but we're making progress.
  2. Blog Tour Prep  I'm finishing up blog tour prep for Into the Fire this week. The Perfect For You posts are all sent and ready to go.
  3. Reading I'm making an effort to catch up on my reading, which took a big hit from not being home.
  4. New Meme Buttons  Now that others are joining in on my weekly memes, I made new buttons. Check them out and feel free to participate in any of my memes.

  5. Crow's Rest Cover Reveal  Check out this cover for Crow's Rest by Angelica R. Jackson.

Avery Flynn arrives for a visit at her Uncle Tam's, eager to rekindle her summertime romance with her crush-next-door, Daniel.
But Daniel’s not the sweet, neurotic guy she remembers—and she wonders if this is her Daniel at all. Or if someone—some thing—has taken his place.
Her quest to find the real Daniel—and get him back—plunges Avery into a world of Fae and changelings, where creatures swap bodies like humans change their socks, and magic lives much closer to home than she ever imagined.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Yay for being home!

Progress here has slowed down as I wait on my husband having the energy after work to critique my novel. Nine chapters down, fourteen more to go. He's very good at crit work though and has already thrown up a number of questions and fixes.

Have a great week. Looking forward to getting my interview answers back.

    1. That's great that your husband is a good CP. Mine doesn't read anything I write, but he's not a reader so I can't complain too much.

    1. Yes, it does. I just wish the construction was finished.

  4. Good to hear you are back home. I know it's been a long process, but I'm amazed at how much you still accomplished. For me, it's getting my PB out for pre-release reviews, writing the press release, and subbing my YA adventure novel. Busy and fun.

  5. Sounds like a fun book. I hear you on getting back home, or rather getting to a new home. We're finally mostly done with our move.

  6. Hi Kelly - It's been a while so I thought I'd stop by and see what's up with you. Looks like your blog has undergone some changes. I like it and love the meme idea. Sounds like you are as busy as ever and doing great things with your writing career!

  7. Welcome home, Kelly! I'm staying at my sister's for part of this week (while she is away) while the hubby works on our house. We're redoing one of the bedrooms for my older son to move into and then moving the baby into my older son's current room. Luckily my sister also has a baby and a toddler, so her house is the perfect place for us to crash. Still not home, though. One of these days I'll get back into writing. :)

  8. Glad you're home again. As Dorothy would say: "There's no place like home."
That book cover is spooky and the story sounds fascinating. Congratulations to Angelica.
    Have a great week.

  13. I LOVE your new meme buttons!! You did an amazing job with them.

And I love the cover for Crow's Nest. The girl's red dress with all the dark colors is beautiful. Congrats, Angelica!

  14. I finally removed "The Gay Detective" from my Kindle. I'll admit, I had high hopes for this novel. It was written decades ago, during an era when homosexuality wasn't prevalent a topic as it is today. Thought I gave it a go, this novel really, really sucked. :(

Not the writing, the writing was fine, but OMG was the story ever so busy!! I couldn't tell who was who and what they were doing when. It was just very busy and I don't know how else to explain it.

Other than that, I've been visiting family and friends this past weekend. Happy that you are back home and projects are getting done! :)
