Friday Feature: Your Book Here

I woke up this morning to see my blog didn't post, and for very good reason. I never scheduled a post. Hmm… I had booked a bunch of Friday Feature spots in advance and didn't realize that I'd run out of them. I've been a little busy lately promoting two new books, editing for clients, and drafting a new book, so I guess that's how this slipped through the cracks.

So today, I'm asking you to let me feature your book. That's right. I want to have you on my Friday Feature. Got a book out? Looking for some exposure? Friday Features are whatever you want them to be—a simple feature with buy links, an excerpt, a giveaway, a guest post, etc. You name it. All you have to do is email me at khashway@hotmail.com and we'll get you scheduled.

In the meantime, let's talk about what your reading right now. I just finished:
I got this ARC at BEA and just got around to reading it. Of course I see the cover has changed and is now blue, but this is what mine looks like.

Next I'll be reading:

I also got this at BEA and Lisa is a great friend.

How about you?

  2. Kelly, Let me pick your brain on promotions!

What's a good strategy for promoting Book 2 in a series? I have ARCs I can give away, but how effective is offering ARCs in a giveaway to people who might not have read Book 1?

    Any wisdom to offer?

    1. Dianne, great question. I find promoting the second book in my series difficult too. I'm really looking forward to the release of the third book so I can promote the heck out of the completed series.

    2. I've been wondering this exact thing! I have a second book coming out, but not sure about blog tours, etc. because if the blogger hasn't read the first, then what's the point? Maybe offering the first book + an arc?

  3. Cool! I love all the work you do promoting other authors. I'm reading CODE NAME VERITY right now and it's been really engaging and fun. I love the transporting nature of historicals!

  4. Ugh! I do that with my ongoing features too. Nice to know I'm not the only one. And I agree with Kelsey - FF is a great opportunity. Thanks for supporting your fellow authors. I just finished Bitterblue and I'm almost done with The Runaway King. I have Shades of Earth ready to go next. Guess I'm catching up on some series.

    1. I'll be catching up on my reading this weekend since I just finished drafting a new book. Reading is always my reward for completing a draft. :)

  5. I've found the same thing about scheduling posts. I love to do it ahead, but that can mean you run short or run out and don't realize it.

    1. I had all of September scheduled back in July and I just kind of forgot it wasn't September any more. ;)

  6. I love covers that have shoes on them, especially the classic sneaker look. Wish I had a book for you to feature- maybe someday! =)

  7. Both of those books look awesome! I'm reading The XYZ's of Being Wicked by Lara Chapman--middle grade. I'm always reading either middle grade or chapter books!

  8. I've done much the same now with scheduling posts in advance, both in my writing and photoblogs. It makes things much easier, just as long as you're sure you're finished writing the post.

  9. First off that is nice of you to feature other people's books. I am currently finishing up a biography about Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath. I am next reading a friend's memoir. I am then going to read a memoir from Ernest Hemingway's son.

  10. Sounds like you are getting to read some great books. :)

I am reading a MG book which is part of the Double Vision series. Next up- I am reading To Kill a Mockingbird. :)

  11. You're amazing Kelly. I'm reading Quanie Miller's The New Mrs. Collins - it's a great thriller. It'll be available on Oct. 13 for purchase. And like some of the other commenters, I'd love to know what you suggest for marketing book 2 in a series.

    1. Marketing a sequel is tough. You actually have to continuously market book one. I can do a blog post on this topic.
