Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.
Here's what's on my mind today:
1. Medeia Sharif's New Book! A huge congrats to Medeia on her new release. She has a giveaway going on to celebrate. Check it out:
VITAMINS AND DEATH, Prizm Books/Torquere Press, December 10, 2014
Purchase from Prizm, Amazon – Vendor sites will be updated on the author’s site.Deidra Battle wants nothing more than to be invisible. After her mother, a public school teacher, engages in an embarrassing teacher-student affair at Lincoln High, they relocate to a different neighborhood and school. Being her mother's briefcase, Deidra joins her mother at her new workplace, Hodge High. Since her mother has reverted to her maiden name and changed her appearance, she thinks no one will figure out they're the Battles from recent news and that they're safe. Neither of them is. Hodge brings a fresh set of bullies who discover details about the scandal that changed Deidra's life. Feeling trapped at home with an emotionally abusive, pill-addicted mother and at school with hostile classmates who attempt to assault and blackmail her, Deidra yearns for freedom, even if she has to act out of character and hurt others in the process. Freedom comes at a price.

2. Reading I'm trying to get in a lot of reading this week. I've gotten behind on the books I need to read and review, and now it's time to catch up.
3. Editing Another week of editing for clients. :)
4. Renovations I finally have a kitchen! Okay, it's not 100% finished. We still need to finish the backsplash, but my new countertop and new sink are both in! Yay! The den is also finished. The floor is down and the walls and window casings are painted. Unfortunately, my carpet for the upstairs won't be installed until the 29th though, so not in time for Christmas.
5. Getting Ready for the Holidays Did I mention I'm hosting Christmas and the house is still a mess? Yup, it is. Furniture everywhere. Unwrapped presents everywhere. I feel like I could be on an episode of Hoarders. *sigh* The good news is that it HAS to get cleaned up before Christmas, so this can't last much longer.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?
Sounds like it's all coming together nicely! Alas, goodbye stress, right? :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!
We have no choice but to get everything finished before Christmas now, so 10 more days of stress and then it's over.
DeleteYou should compile a 12 days of Christmas Renovation List so we can all sing to it. :)
Deletelol If only I had 12 days left to get ready. ;)
DeleteI did my own Monday Mishmash this morning--thanks for offering the idea. With so many things swirling around, it was the perfect blog for today. Glad to hear your house is getting closer. After our plumbing debaucle, now I think we need a new furnace! Ugh. Have a good week, Kelly!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you decide to Mishmash today. :) Sorry to hear about the furnace though. Always a project, right?
DeleteI'm behind on my reading, too, Kelly, but I'm catching up on my reviews. I just posted my latest "Weekly Readings"
ReplyDeleteI did another collaboration video that had it's tech hiccups and scripting mishaps but got it done!
My family's slow to start prepping for Christmas, too, but we're not hosting anyone so that helps, but I hope you enjoy the guests at your home this year.
Christmas is always a good time so I'm sure it will be a nice relaxing day after all these renovations are completed.
DeleteYay for Medeia! Her book sounds fantastic and I wish her the best of luck.
ReplyDeleteI, too, have to catch up on my reading. It's been hard to find the added time so I am hoping the Christmas break will allow me a few books to be read.
We are hosting Christmas Eve this year and heading to my mom's on Christmas day. I hope your construction finishes soon, Kelly!
Thanks, Gina! I have a feeling Christmas Eve will be a crazy day of getting things straightened up before company comes for me. lol
Deleteso excited for Medeia! and congrats on the house renovations! Sounds like it's all coming together.
ReplyDelete"It's getting there" has been the saying for the past five months. I'm looking forward to saying "It's finished!"
DeleteGood luck getting everything done before Christmas! I'm sure it'll all work out :) You should definitely post a pic of your finished kitchen--I'm seriously curious about all your renovations!
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen may or may not be completed before Christmas. lol The backsplash still needs to be finished but painting and flooring are higher up on our list of to-do items.
DeleteI'm trying to get a lot of reading in this week... and not getting very far in the task!
ReplyDeleteGo read. ;)
DeleteGood luck having everything clean for Christmas! I'd love to see pics when everything's done.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely post pics when it's all finished.
DeleteSounds like you are on the way! Congrats to Medeia!
ReplyDeleteYeah, we just need to speed it up a little. ;)
DeleteWow. Busy times. Good busy. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, very busy. We're excited to finally finish though.
DeleteCongrats on the remodel. My kitchen project starts next February. I am so not looking forward to it. Remember your family and friends are coming to see you.. don't stress too much ( I know easier said than done).
ReplyDeletelol Exactly. ;)
DeleteI'm afraid to host a party because of the work involved. I always go elsewhere. It sounds like a busy week. Thank you for sharing my book.
ReplyDeleteMy husband was a chef so he cooks on Christmas. So nice! I have to clean before, during, and after the party, but I'm okay with that.
DeleteCongratulations on your new book, Medeia. It sounds like a touching story.
ReplyDeleteConcentrate on being with family for the holidays, Kelly. No one will notice the house. They'll be having too much fun. Besides, with company it just gets messed up. :)
The plan is to have the downstairs as finished as possible—the exception being that our bedrooms are currently down here and they will be moving upstairs after the carpet comes on the 29th. Otherwise, we'll be in order and ready to relax by Christmas. I hope. ;)
DeleteMy backsplash has been in the making for a year now :-( Hope we get to see a few finished photos :-) As far as reading goes, I am trying to catch on reviews, then back to reading. Happy Christmas season.
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping to have ours finished for Christmas, but that's the one thing that may not be. Time will tell I guess.
DeleteI've been thinking of taking the first week in January to do no writing at night, only reading. I am so behind too. =(
ReplyDeleteIt's good to take a break like that every once in a while.
DeleteI am so excited for Medeia! Her latest book sounds amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad your new kitchen is basically finished! Yeah!
~Jess
Thanks, Jess.
DeleteI have Medeia's book on my Kindle right now and will be starting today. :)
Happy to hear your house is almost done. It has to be difficul to work when things ar chaos. I'm scheduling all my reading for the 19th to the 23 rd. No school, no volunteering, no homework.
ReplyDeleteSounds nice, Sherry. :)
DeleteCongrats to Medeia! And yay for a kitchen! I'm also trying to get more reading down so I can cross off books from my TBR list before the New Year.
ReplyDeleteGood plan. New year, new books. :)
