Monday Mishmash 1/19/15

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Another Campus Crush  So last week I mentioned that fans asked for another Campus Crush story for Mike since he didn't get his HEA. I thought I was going to write a novel for him, but this series insists that it's made up of novellas, and that's what his story has turned into. More details to come.
  2. Friday Feature  I have some Friday Feature spots available this month and next (and beyond, actually) so if you have a new release or upcoming release and would like to be featured email me khashway(at)hotmail(dot)com.
  3. Spotlight and Giveaway  The very sweet and awesome Megan McDade is hosting me on her blog this month and in addition to interviews and guest posts, there's a giveaway (winner's choice of a paperback of Touch of Death or The Monster Within). Check it out here.
  4. Winter Ball  My daughter attended her first school dance last Friday. It was three hours of me sitting on a hard cafeteria stool, but seeing her dance and run around with her friends made it worth it. She's only in second grade, so seeing how outgoing she is really makes me happy. That girl is not afraid to be who she is. :) I'm a proud mom.
  5. Winter Blues  Anyone else have the winter blues? Some of my 2014-year-of-ickiness has carried over and I'm hoping to be finished with it by the end of the month so I can get back to life as usual. And I could really use some sunshine and warmer weather if anyone can make that happen. ;)
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Aw, that's so sweet your daughter had her first dance. :) I've been hearing a lot about the winter blues. I have it too. Today we had some sunshine so that really helped as it rained all day and night yesterday. January darkness sucks.

    1. Yeah, January is a dark month. I'm ready for spring and lots of sunshine.

  2. Big hug on the ickiness front. Yay for a daughter who is happy to be herself. Our family are enjoying the January bugs but battling through. Saturday last, my 12 year old daughter attended a birthday party where all the girls wore dresses and heels. She insisted that she wear her jumpsuit and sparkly pumps. Got to love individuals.

Trying to get back into the mindset of my second novel first draft but struggling. Think I just need to sit down and read what I've written so far and my chapter plan.

    1. I hope those bugs are gone soon. Sickness always works it's way through a family.
I've had to go back and reread what I've written to find my groove. It helps. Good luck.

  3. I'm looking forward to more sun and less weather ickiness, too!

I can't wait to see what you have in store for Mike!

  4. aw the dance sounds so cute! and YES on the winter blues--i am ready for spring. Been feeling like I'm stuck in the biggest rut, life-wise, and the weather is not helping

  5. Some of my ickiness has carried over too. But I'm trying hard to fight it by signing up for a class and writing through it. But I know you never have a problem with writing.

    1. I had writers block the other day for the first time. It was awful. Thankfully I got over it.

  6. I'm really intrigued about your 'other' Campus Crush. Hmmm... And yes, winter can be a tough time of year to keep a smile on.

    1. I'm definitely having fun writing another story for Mike.

  7. Oh, I love the winter. I only get the blues when the snow is gone.

They have school dances in the second grade already?

    1. They've actually had them since kindergarten, but I was always at a conference that weekend and my daughter and husband travelled with me so she missed the dance before this year. Crazy, right?

  8. I don't mind that Mike's story isn't going to be a full novel. I'll be happy just as long as I get to read his happy ending, even if it's a short story. :D

    1. It's definitely a novella, which fits the rest of the series so I don't mind. :)

  9. I used to hate the cold. After living in England and NY, I'm kinda used to it. As long I have my hot apple cider and hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows, I'm good.

    1. For me it's tea and coffee that keep me warm. Oh, and lots of blankets. :)

  10. Wow. A school dance is a great place for children's book inspiration. Sounds fun.

  11. It's good she's outgoing. I was the opposite and remember some rather painful elementary experiences b/c of it. Hope sunshine skies are head your way soon!

    1. I was shy but I hated to be alone, so I'd find someone to talk to immediately to avoid being on my own.

  12. The dance sounds fun. I'm in Florida, so we don't get the winter blues. Some stories do call for novellas.

  13. Winter Ball- the first of many. Get ready for inspiration, and use it for stories. None of my chaperoning was wasted, and i am speaking of the writerly aspect, not the motherly one, which is never a waste.
Boo-and-go-away to the Winter blahs... I get the summer ones, so I'm on an uphill swing now, but I can relate.

    1. Oh yes, plenty of material for future books. ;)

I had construction blues over the summer and fall, so these winter blues are killing me. I need some spring happiness.
