Monday Mishmash: 8/31/15

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. First Day of School  My daughter went back to school today. :( I miss her already.
  2. Editing  It's probably no shock that my plate is full with edits this week.
  3. Recovering From Knee Injury  In case you didn't see my posts on FB and Twitter last week, I fell on the treadmill and now both knees look like I'm trying to audition for The Walking Dead—as a zombie of course. They're healing now, but ouch!
  4. Our Little Secret  I'm SO excited for this release on September 15. Like SO excited. I love this book, and it's gorgeous thanks to the amazing team at Limitless Publishing. I have a lot planned for the month of September to celebrate, so stay tuned.
  5. Writer Wednesday Topics  My posts from the other side of the submissions desk seem to be popular, so I thought I'd ask you if there's anything you'd like me to talk about in my Wednesday posts. What do you want to know about as far as submitting to editors?
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  2. That first day of school is tough on moms. :)
Poor knees. Take care of them.
September sounds like a busy month. Such fun.
    Have a good week.

    1. Thanks, Chrys. I think they are healing quickly. It's just painful.

  4. I feel the pain all the way to where I am. Knees are not something you want to damage! Heal quickly.

    1. Yeah, it's not a convenient location either. Sitting. And standing both hurt. Lol

  5. First day of school for us is Wednesday, so I know what you're feeling. I miss my grand daughter already. Writer Wednesay- how about what novel or synopsis openings that grab an editor; or what an editor wants in a synopsis-1 page or 2 and what's the difference; or, besides grammar what lands your manuscript in the "No Way!" Pile. Just a couple of ideas.

  6. I also recommend heat and ice for that. Ouch!

    1. I kind of can't heat or ice it yet for reasons I won't share because I don't want to gross anyone out.

  8. Hi Kel,
How exciting about your release. I'm anxious to hear more about it. Some books are just a little closer to our hearts than the other the other book children:) I feel that way about Ghost For Sale, which is also coming out this month:)
Hope your baby is enjoying school.
Sorry to hear about your fall. Ouch. Take care of yourself. Hugs

  12. As long as you don't start making weird sounds and looking crusty on other parts of your body, I think you're safely not one of the walking dead. ;) But ow, sorry to hear that! I'm always curious when I put my blog in my signature line in query letters, if agents/editors go look at it. If you get a sub you're interested in, do you then check out the author's site? Thx!

  13. You always seem to be running, and falling on the treadmill, literally or figuratively, is no joke. Maybe this is the time to sit down some... Best with the many (sitting) tasks ahead.

  14. My word, you make me tired just reading about your busyness :-) With your daughter off to school and your next book releasing soon, separation anxiety levels must be astronomical - but in a good way, huh? You want them both to succeed and I know they will! Have a terrific week and give your battered knees a break - they'll love ya for it!

    1. Lol I make myself tired too. ;)

Yes, anxiety is high, but I'll get through it.

  15. Oh NO! How did you fall on the treadmill? Be careful and take care of yourself!

    1. That's a great question. I was reading and apparently not paying attention to where my feet were landing on the spinning belt. :(

  16. Ouch! Reading does that to me to usually...too engrossed to see where my feet lands...
