Monday Mishmash 8/3/15

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Our Little Secret Cover Reveal  I'm having a cover reveal this Thursday, August 6th. It's going to be a social media blitz, which means you don't need a blog to join in. You can share the cover on any social media site. If you'd like to be part of it, you can sign up here.
  2. Open Submissions For Leap Books Seek  I'm open to unagented submissions until August 14th. If you have a middle grade book between 30,000 and 40,000 words, you can submit your query (in the body of the email) along with your synopsis and first 3 chapters (as Word attachments) to kellyhashway.leapbooks@gmail.com. Your subject line should read OPEN SUBMISSIONS: TITLE OF YOUR BOOK.
  3. Editing  Somehow, I'm booked through the rest of the year with edits, so I'm editing all the time. LOL
  4. Drafting  I'm trying to draft a novella in between editing. It's going very slowly, which isn't like me at all. I need some help from my muse on this one.
  5. Free Monthly Newsletter  My FREE monthly newsletter goes out this evening. If you aren't signed up to receive it, but would like to click here.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

    1. Thanks. You might not be so amazed if you say me doing it though. It's madness over here. ;)

  2. I think I signed up for the cover reveal. It's on my calendar. Can't wait to see it.
Wish I had a mg to submit. :( Mine's not finished. I bet you'll have a lot of great ones.
That sounds like a lot of editing.

  8. I think I'll be editing the rest of the year, too. With four books coming out in a row next year it's hitting all at once. Well, the first two are back to back, so I think those are going to be the worst of it. But that's good...it means we're doing well!!!

Signed up for your social media blast. Can't wait!

    1. Thanks so much, Stephanie!

Four books, busy lady! That's great though. Let me know how I can help promote them for you.

Can I do a blurb and cover for you next week?

    1. I think my mind is just split between too many things right now. I even got an idea for a YA/NA thriller. Lol

  11. That's going to keep you exceedingly busy!

  12. As you are in an open period, I imagine you are flooded with submissions. Give us the tally when it's over. I always marvel at how the internet made our lives easier but also so much busier.

    1. Sometimes I think technology makes things equally easier and harder. If that makes sense. ;)

  13. Sorry for the slow drafting on this one, I know it's got to be frustrating for you when you're normally a speed demon. It'll come! And every time I see your call for MG submissions, I wish I had a MG to send you! =)

    1. Yes, very frustrating.

I'll do an open submission again, so no worries.

  14. You sure are one busy woman!! Good luck with everything. And even though I know it's probably frustrating with the slow drafting, your muse will come. My novella is coming along slowly as well... :)

  15. If your muse is hanging out with my muse, send mine home, her vacay is over:)

  16. Your posts always make me feel like such a slacker ;) And if you find a muse hanging around, have her send a friend my way, m'k? Mine has decided to find someone more interesting.

    1. So many writers are saying their muses up and left for the summer. Maybe all our muses are together. ;) They need to end their vacation and come home!

  17. I've just finished a children's book which I intend to send to publishers, so that's occupying most of my mind at the moment. I don't know how you full-time authors do it :P

    1. Technically, I'm not a full-time author anymore. I spend more time editing than writing these days. It was easier when I wrote full-time, but editing pays my bills. ;)

  18. Wow, you're busy. All very exciting. Me? Well, I finished the rewrite of my novel on time - very pleased with the result. Now, I have to polish it up (in between summer holiday activities with my kids). Have a great week.
