Monday Mishmash 2/1/16

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Editing  January was a crazy editing month for me. If I told you how many books I edited and proofed, you'd probably think I discovered the secret to utilizing all 24 hours in each day. I'm still not sure how I did it. February isn't quite as packed, but it's still booked.
  2. Into the Fire Special Dates  February 6th is my cover reveal for Into the Fire. February 16th is release day. AND February 22 begins my blog tour. I see massive amounts of hazelnut coffee and dark chocolate in my future. ;)
  3. Reading  I've been combining reading time with exercise time, which really helps. I have to run on a treadmill thanks to my sciatica, so I read my Kindle while running. I've also gotten used to the Kindle reading to me on the highest speed, which makes me fly through books.
  4. Revising  Last week I managed to revise two of my own books in addition to editing. I feel really good about getting to work on some of my own projects in addition to all the editing I'm doing for clients and Leap Books.
  5. Monroe County Book Expo  I signed up for the Monroe County Book Expo on April 16th. I'll be there with ALL my Kelly Hashway titles and Ashelyn Drake titles. I'm hoping to have copies of the entire Into the Fire trilogy too, but the last book (Up In Flames) releases just days before, so we'll see.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. All the best with the upcoming expo Kelly. I do freelance writing so I get how sometimes writing work piles up and you wonder how you ever completed it all and stayed sane. But all those orders have attached the money to pay our bills so onward. Yay for revisions and if you ever want to enter Kindle Scouts to try and win a contract know that you have this gal ready to vote on your next masterpiece. I know I can trust you with quality work. ;)

  2. Wow, you're busy. Not sure I could combine reading and exercise - I use exercise time to think - but well done. Hope the sciatica heals up soon.

This week I'm working on novels 2 and 3, and contacting the lit agents who haven't got back to me. Then, it's a rethink as to what to do next with novel 1.

    Have a great week.

    1. I've been dealing with my sciatica issues for years. I'm fine as long as I don't run on uneven ground.

      Two novels? Wow. Good luck!

  4. We just don't have the book expos they have everywhere else. I need to check to see why. Our SCBWI published group tends to invite a few of the same people to everything and not mention it to the rest of us, but maybe there are some general book expos that I'm not aware of.

    1. This one is run by the library. Maybe check with your library to see if they offer any.

  5. Good luck and have fun at the expo! If it were me, I would've used a time turner to get all those edits done last month. How did you do it? If you ever figure it out, let me know. Been lethargic with my writing lately so I'm still working on my YA urban fantasy novella. When now that it's February I should be resuming work on my other NaNoWriMo 2015 novel, a contemporary romance. Sigh.

    1. I'm still not sure how I pulled it off. I guess I did it because I had to.

Good luck with your urban fantasy.

  6. No Hazelnut coffee for me, thanks. But I love editing. You can see I'm rather odd.

  7. You know what I love about Monday Mishmash posts?
That it's filled with writing to-do's! :) Editing has not been my friend lately...but I'm hoping to turn that feeling around. ;) LOL

  9. Since you mentioned reading, yesterday I gave up on a book that is uber-popular and a best seller after the first hundred pages, and started a beautifully written book with much more promise to be rewarding. Haven't done this before, and it made me feel victorious...
But reading your Mondays always reminds me I could do more! ;)

    1. There are so many books out there that I started walking away from ones that don't hold my attention. I never review those though. I just chalk it up to "not for me."
