Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.
Here's what's on my mind today:
- It's the Little Things Sometimes little things make me smile. Like my metallic green pen I just bought. Writing in my day planner in that sparkly green makes me happy. Yay for the little things. :)
- Editing My editing schedule has been CRAZY! I'm not sure how I got through the number of edits I did in April. It's made me realize I need to scale back a bit because I'm seeing physical effects of the stress now and that's not good.
- Recovering So far this year, I've had 5 books come out. The entire Into the Fire trilogy and the first two books in the Curse of the Granville Fortune series. In a word, I'm exhausted!
- Shift to Adult My focus recently has shifted to adult. I still have several YA manuscripts in different stages, but I'm also working on several adult and new adult manuscripts. Maybe I'm finally growing up, but I really like writing for adults. Remember when I said I never would? Never say never!
- Writing Time I'm hoping to sneak in some writing time. Last month was all about editing, and I need to write.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?
You have been exceedingly busy!
ReplyDeleteToo busy even for me lately.
DeleteThe right pen can turn my day into sparkles! I totally get how your metallic green one made you smile .
ReplyDelete:) Glad I'm not the only one.
DeleteI need to write more as well. Drafting for my freelance peeps and blogging has been all right. But my own manuscripts have been screaming at me to get back to them. Pfft. Imaginary children.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get back to them soon.
DeleteGirl...solidarity on working too hard. I had clients send me (no joke) 29 articles to do asap. 29. I do about three or four a day for ALL my clients. And I'm trying to phase out my ghostwriting and do more bylined stuff because it paid better. So all I can hope is maybe they'll get so frustrated that I can only send them one every 1-2 days that they'll go find someone else to do the work? Or at least hire a second writer!!! I keep offering to recommend some but they won't bite.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I'm sorry you're overworked too. Good luck.
DeleteMother's Day is on my mind, I just picked out gifts and got them all nice in a bag. I hope you can scale back soon, stress is no fun!
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not. But yay for Mother's Day gifts!
DeleteI like purple pens myself. Wow, five books out already this year. That's mind-boggling. No wonder you're exhausted. I'd still be on the floor. Hope you get in that writing time!
ReplyDeleteI love purple pens too. I'm actually using one now. :)
DeleteDon't laugh at me, Kelly, but at times I have wondered if you are one person or a whole tribe. Five books, more in various stages, editing, mothering and having a life--all in one year? I bet others have wondered, also.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was whole tribe! That would come in handy!
DeleteI'm also feeling tired, yet I can't help but write. I hope the edits slow down.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Medeia.
DeleteYou are a busy lady. Look at what you've accomplished though. New books, more to come. Congratulations, and remember to have fun too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Beverly. I'm trying to find the fun again. Maybe after some rest. ;)
DeleteI'm still recovering from the New England SCBWI conference this past weekend. Looks like we both need some extra sleep this weekend. Have fun on your new A/NA writing projects!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katie! Happy recovering.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on the green pen! Lol. No, really congrats on the five books.
DeleteRepolishing a novel that had been put on hold, and finishing a draft of one that was shelved to finish the one on hold.
Wow, it's not Monday any more is it? It's great being busy.
Good luck with your manuscripts!
