Monday Mishmash 10/17/16

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Fading Into the Shadows  I've set some dates for my upcoming mythology-based YA, Fading Into the Shadows. The book will release on January 16, 2017 and the cover reveal will be November 16-18. More info soon. :)
  2. Editing  I have two edits on my plate this week. I'm finishing round three on one and starting another.
  3. Book Events  I really need a master list of every book convention and expo (Do they make one of those?) so I can plan which ones I want to attend in 2017. So far, I'm doing YA Fest in March and my local book expo, which is usually in April.
  4. Revisions  I'm hoping to have some time to work on revising my adult suspense this week.
  5. Proud Mom  Last week, my daughter got to read the morning announcements at school because she was chosen Student of the Month. I got to hear her do the announcements, and I was blown away by how much feeling she puts into reading aloud. She reads aloud at home all the time, and I feel like it's really help her learn tone and inflection. So proud of her. :)
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Congrats to your daughter, and that mythology-based YA sounds awesome!
I'm updating my blogs, making plans for the Belgrade Book Fair (it starts on October 23rd, and I'm like "What? Already?"), and soon after the Book Fair, there will be BeoKon (Belgrade science fiction/fantasy/horror convention, or, as they've renamed it, convention of global pop culture; this year with Steven Erikson as the Guest of Honor).
This is a busy time of year around these parts, and I love it.

  3. There has been a HUGE call in the kidlit community for such a list. Someone said SCBWI is working on one but it's tough to pull them all together. I'd love to see such a list, too. Mostly I find out about them when my friends are talking about being there!

  4. Proud Mama! That master list would definitely help authors as well as fans who want to go to these events. This Jamaican needs to get her passport and finances in order. I want to travel!

    2. Ugh, phone autocorrected my grammar and now it's incorrect! Bad phone! Authors, plural.

  7. Congratulations to your daughter - proud mum moment. Exciting news about the January release. Looking forward to seeing the cover.

I'm getting on with writing my novels and working on an online writing course at the IWP, Univ of Iowa which is opening my eyes to my writing again.

    Have a great week.

  9. Student of the Month! Mama, you're mother of the Year in my book. And speaking of, tell us some more about your adult suspense book, and how writing for grown-ups is different than MG or YA, beyond the MC character's age.
