Monday Mishmash 11/7/16

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. NaNoWriMo  According to NaNo, I'm supposed to finish today. Last week, I wrote way more than I thought I would. Of course, winning NaNo doesn't mean the book is finished, so I'll still be writing after today.
  2. Editing  I have two edits on my plate after finishing one this weekend. One is my backward read, which is the slow read to catch those pesky grammar and punctuation issues. The other is a short story, so I'll be doing a content read and the backward read on that one this week.
  3. See numbers one and two  I don't have time to tackle anything else this week! LOL
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Wow, you're doing well.

I'm working on my new novel, trying to catch up with my studies and learning my lines for the pantomime I'm rehearsing for.

    Have a wonderful week.

  2. Wow. Been a slow start for me and just realized that there's a chapter missing before chapter 1. Had to go back to an old, old draft to bring back a chapter I once scrapped to rewrite. After that I'm starting from the middle of the story.

    1. I did a little jumping around in my manuscript as well. Good luck.

  3. I'm still recovering from BeoKon, and can't seem to wake up today. Conventions are fun, but exhausting.

    1. Yes, conventions seem to always require recovery time afterward.

  5. How have you liked writing at the 'slower' pace? Is it working for you to do a little of everything each day?

    1. LOL I'm not at all. ;) I have major issues! I mean I suppose I'm technically slower than usual since I'm averaging about 7-8K a day, but that's actually with figuring in two days with about 3-5K because I was barely home.

  6. I honestly don't know how you write that fast, but it's pretty amazing. Way to be!

    1. I'm insane. There's no other way to describe it. My characters take me hostage and I'm just trying to finish so they'll free me.

  7. Wow--that's plenty, Kelly, for sure. This week, I'm writing a freelance article for a magazine I string for and working on flushing out an idea for a new book. Kinda excited, not gonna lie.

  8. Wow! Way to go with your writing. I'm still behind with NaNoWriMo.

  9. You are amazing! I don't know how you write so fast! I wish I could have just a little bit more than that and then I would only be going from a snail to a turtle. :)

    1. I really do wish I would slow down and act like a sane person. I scare myself sometimes with how crazy I get when drafting.

    1. I voted this morning with my daughter and then we treated ourselves to breakfast at the diner. We froze this morning! 26 degrees and an hour-long wait outside. Brr!

  12. That was always my challenge with NaNo--I can't remember what the total word count is, but each Piper Morgan book is 8,000-10,000 words!

    1. Yes, you'd have to write many Piper Morgan books. ;)

  13. Yay for NANo. I'm way to slow to ever do it. Still on chapter 22 of my WIP. Been there over a week. Will get it one day.

    1. I've decided NaNo isn't designed for someone like me though. They won't let me verify my word count yet, so now it's holding the fact that I didn't write yesterday against me. Boo, NaNo! I'm finished!

  14. Wow, congrats on winning NaNo! I'm not surprised, of course, with how fast you write! :)

    1. I'm thinking of adding about 30K to another book I put on hold to keep the momentum going through the month while I edit.
