A Tale of Two Sites

It's official. I've split my website in two. Why? Because my previous site was quickly becoming about my children's picture books and short stories for readers 12 and under. Now that I have an agent and am actively seeking publication for my young adult and middle grade novels, I thought it was time to have a place just for them.

This is it. Welcome to my young adult and middle grade blog. I will be blogging from here every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. While I'll still have my other site, I won't be blogging from there as often. I will only be blogging about children's writing related topics and books over there and YA & MG writing and books here.

You'll notice a lot of changes to the children's site, and this site will continue to grow as my career hopefully grows. *crosses fingers* But you can expect book reviews, tips on writing for YA & MG audiences, and of course my Monday Mishmash.

To kick off the YA topic, what YA book are you reading right now?

  4. Hey, this is cool! Good luck with it. I'm between books right now, as I am crazily preparing for the release of my YA.

  5. Thanks, Anna. It's going to be a lot of work, but I think it was the right thing to do.

  6. Thanks, Beth. Yeah, starting over and going from about 500 followers to 0 was a little heartbreaking. I'm hoping most of my followers will join me here.

  8. Congrats on the new site! Yes, sometimes it makes sense to have more than one blog. In my reading queue is The Hunger Games. (Yes, I know everybody else read it ages ago!)

  9. Good luck with your new site, Kelly. It is a great idea.

  10. Beverly, thanks! It'll be a challenge, but I'm up for it. I have never read The Hunger Games. The concept kills me as a mom. I'd cry hysterically through the whole thing. Maybe I'll be able to read it one day, but not in the near future.

  11. I said it before, Kelly. You are an amazing powerhouse of productivity. You put mere mortals to shame.
I have no doubt your new site will flourish. Cheers!

  13. Glad to meet another MG/YA author! :)

I'm reading a friends ARC right now. There will be more on that on my blog later this month.

  16. Hi! I found you from SheWrites. I just finished The Daughter of Smoke and Bone, which is definitely a stand out for the year. I'm planning to read Lola and the Boy Next Door because of all the great things I've heard about Stephanie Perkins' books. I just met her at a book event and it motivated me a little more :)

  22. I’ll be reading the your new blog for sure.

I'm about to start THE SCORPIO RACES. I’ve gotten behind in my YA reading this year. It’s a losing battle trying to keep up. So many good books are coming out all the time.

  23. Bigfoot, I hear you. It's impossible to keep up unless you read 24 hours a day. It's a good problem to have though--lots of great books to choose from. :)

  24. Great idea to split the two sites. I'm also reading The Scorpio Races. (And I'm also falling behind on my reading!)

  25. Lena, I'm glad you think so. I went back and forth with the idea for a while. Another person reading The Scorpio Races. We all seem to have the same tastes. :)

  27. Just finished AFTER by Amy Efaw, now reading a Nnedi Okorafor book (that's technically classified as adult, though she has other YA), and up next on the dockett is Diary of a Wimpy Kid since I'm years behind on reading that one!

  28. Miranda, I've read two of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I need to read the others though. I'm on a YA kick since that's what I'm currently writing. But hopefully my MG will get picked up and I'll be working on that age group again soon. :)

  29. Yay, Kelly! This site is totally different than your other one. :) Good luck with it. I like the "power" waves. ;)

  30. Thanks, Cat. I love the purple power waves, too.
