- Books, books, books I'm reading three books right now. One to review for another author and two I purchased with my birthday money. I love reading multiple books at once.
- Revisions I finished my final hard copy revisions, and I'm really happy with this manuscript. Now I just have to transfer my revisions to my file and it will be ready to send to my awesome agent.
- Loaded Kindle I'm dangerous with Amazon gift cards. My Kindle is pleasantly full with great books waiting for me to read them.
- Fleshing out a new MS A while back I got an idea for a new MS and I've been fleshing it out in between all my revisions. This week, I'll finish planning and get myself ready to draft.
- Editing I have some more editing projects coming my way, and that always makes me smile. My clients are amazing.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?
No way can I read multiple books at once. I get confused easily, lol. Glad to hear you're happy with the MS. That's a wonderful feeling, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new one!
I often read a couple of books at the same time - I blame it on my over active writer's mind.
ReplyDeleteKelly, I love your life. You're an inspiration.
Have a good week.
Today I've got work to do for clients, too! One critique and some copywriting.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could read multiple books at once. In fact, I've tried and I just don't get as much from each book as I'd like : /
Yay about your new idea. Good luck!
Thanks, Stacy. I don't see reading multiple books at once as any different than watching different TV shows. Different plot lines, different characters. Maybe I'm just weird though. ;)
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks, Fi! You're too sweet.
ReplyDeleteKatie, good luck with your work for your clients. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a one-book-at-a-time person. Reading and writing!
ReplyDeleteI try to stick to one book at a time writing wise, Mystery We Write Authors. But on occasion I'm revising one while planning another. I can't draft two at once though. I'd go crazy.
ReplyDeleteKelly, how do you do all you do AND have a young child? You amaze me.
ReplyDeleteKaren, she's in school three mornings a week and still takes a two-hour nap every afternoon. I actually get quite a bit of time to myself. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have told you that. You might not be amazed anymore. ;)
ReplyDeleteI am able to write several books at once. Somehow I'm able to keep the plots of my books quite separate from each other. It's the same way I can read multiple books at once. I don't know why I can do it. I just can. Doesn't bother me at all.
ReplyDeleteGOod look on your multiple projects, Kell. :)
Thanks, Cat. I envy you. I can't write more than one at a time. Revise and plan two separate ones is fine. But actually writing? Nope, can't do it.
ReplyDeleteLady Kelly
ReplyDeleteAh, me. It's not just cat's that come back. It's Bad Pennies too.
Hmmm. What's the current Exchange Rate? :-).
Lordy. Kindles. Nooks. E-readers in general. They're not just dangerous - they're a godsend. A friend of mine is getting one for Xmas, and she's already looking forward to having a good excuse to spend even longer snuggled under he duvet, electrons in hand. 'But I'm reading, like, stuff! And reading's good for you, right?' Heh. I won't argue. Well, not if she's reading anything of mine, at least :-).
I'm with you on the new MS flesh as well. Some time back I had an idea for a new character. I wanted to write a main (just for fun at the time) with no redeeming or sympathetic qualities whatsoever. Apparently I failed, according to one person who read the stub I have so far - he has a sense of humour. I guess that's sort of unavoidable with comic fantasy. Or fantasy you want to be comic. Now I'm polling people to see if they think it's worth carrying on with - I find I quite like the main after all. I guess I really did fail - but maybe in a good way.
And what's on my mind? Well - Leroy Jenkins. And maybe the Beard of Avon. But that's over at today's blog entry - 'They call me _Mr_ Jenkins'.

I'm reading a few books at once, too, though I don't really like it. I feel like I'm doing so much but not really seeing any of the results. I finish them at roughly the same time, and even sometimes get the details of the stories mixed up in my head. So, I try not to do this, but somehow it seems to be working out this way lately--I've also got a fully loaded kindle app on my phone, so I've been reading a book there whenever I'm waiting around someplace. But I've got a paper-bound book on my nightstand at home, and that's what I read at bedtime. :)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck sending your new story to your agent!
ReplyDeleteGraeme, I think you "failed" in a good way. Readers need to like the MC or they won't follow him/her through the entire story. So pat yourself on the back. :)
ReplyDeleteTabitha, reading print and ebooks at the same time is something I'm always doing. I'm too chicken to use my Kindle on my treadmill so I'm always reading a print book. But at night I curl up with my Kindle. It's easier to hold while I'm snuggled under the covers.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Catherine!
ReplyDeleteWhat is on my mind? When I read your Monday mish-mashes, Kelly, I think about how I’d love to learn some multi-tasking from you. I’m just not made that way…
ReplyDeletehey followed your blog! Thank you for following mine!!
ReplyDeleteMirka, I love to multi-task. :) Sometimes I take it to extremes though and it works against me.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ning! And you're welcome.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to see that someone else must read more than one book at a time.
ReplyDeleteI have a "daytime" book that I'll read while on my bike (stationary, lol) or waiting for kids. And then there's always a "nighttime" book that's usually more literary, and less nail-biting.
Busy girl you are - though, so am I.
I'll do multiple books, too - usually a non-fiction one that Enriches My Mind plus a fun fiction.
ReplyDeleteMy head is in the holidays, and about NOT-stressing over all the things To Be Done, but simply doing those most important, and letting the rest go.
Jolene, that's usually how my reading multiple books works too!
ReplyDeleteBeverly, good for you. Being able to let the non-important stuff go is important to staying sane.
ReplyDeleteAlmost done and getting ready to send!
ReplyDeleteJodi, I'm looking forward to it. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! It sounds like you are busy with lots of wonderful books! Congrats on getting ready to send your ms to your agent. Yeah! I just got an Amazon gift card, too. I can't wait to spend it! Happy reading!

Congratulations on all of your multitasking tasks. I usually have a couple of print books going and one audio book.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've been busy! I've working on revisions, edits for clients, blog posts, and some projects that will launch in 2012. It's been crazy busy, but I couldn't be happier :)
ReplyDeleteJess, ooh have fun with that Amazon gift card!
ReplyDeleterick, I have yet to try an audio book. I imagine it would be great for the car, but I usually have my four-year-old with me, so I'd have to screen my book choice. Plus she loves music, so I don't know how happy she'd be about listening to a book.
ReplyDeleteCourtney, I'm the same way. I like to be busy. Good luck with all you have going on right now.
ReplyDeleteYou sound busy in the best possible way. I love that feeling. Good luck with all of it. Glad you feel confident about your revisions.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for reminding me: I've got an Amazon gift card, too!
Ooh, Anne, go use that gift card. :) And thanks!
ReplyDeleteDidn't sound like a mash or mish because everything has to do with wonderful books! Best wishes for a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteThe Desert Rocks, you're right. I didn't even realize that. I guess I have books on my brain this week. :) I hope you have a great holiday, too!
ReplyDeleteLove to see others think a lot about writing and books. Like you, I could fill my Kindle in a heartbeat and am far behind in my readings.
ReplyDeleteDonna, I think I will be forever far behind in my reading, and I spent most of yesterday reading since I was sick. So many great books.
