It's no secret that my favorite gifts to receive and give are books. Lots of books. And I've asked for a few this holiday season. Here's a few topping off my list:
What books do you hope are in your stocking this year?
Hi Kelly, love the new site! I always ask for gift cards for my books. There's nothing like wandering in a book store with a coffe and no kids! It's my me-time and three gifts in one!
Thanks, blueeyedadri! I love it here, too. I'm not sure why I waited so long to create a more YA friendly blog. :)
Oh gift cards for books are my absolute favorite gifts. I got one for my birthday and had a blast loading up my Kindle. I actually had to take one of the books off this list because I just devoured it in between writing the post and actually posting it. (It was a birthday gift.)
Hah I'm with you blueyedadri! Gift Cards is where it's at! :) I've already spread the word to my parents that if any family member asks them to just give me a B&N card for my Nook :) SO psyched. Have you guys heard of Under the Never Sky? Sounded interesting. It's a dystopian. I have been eying Goddess Test and Destined lately.
I put the strong hint out for Joyce Carol Oates' book, "Telling Stories," which is based on her seminars at Princeton. Should be a fascinating insight to one of our most amazing and prolific writers.
Fun question! I've always got books on my Christmas wish list! Some of them: Demonic by Ann Coulter, In Stitches by Anthony Young, MD and Journey to Nowhere by Shiva Naipaul.
So this year I bought my 11 yr old a Kindle for Christmas which I am super excited about for her. And The Hunger Games trilogy because she loves it so much she wants to read it over and over, and so do I!
I'm asking for books on the writing craft as well as Tangled Tides. I'd ask for more books, but I highly doubt I'll get any. :( We have no book store in our area and my family are all last minute shoppers which means no ordering from Amazon.
I buy too many books so I don't really want any more until I read the ones I currently have screaming at me from my bookshelf. I have a huge pile to get through and I don't read very fast!
My book-wish is for a book by an author I haven’t discovered yet. Those are the best gifts. A few years back a friend gave me one of Richard Peck’s, and to this day the gift keeps giving… I’ve read as many of his historical as I could find.
I just want to get through the books on my current reading pile. I am currently reading the Other Boleyn Sister (loving it) but it wasn't on the list of things to read. What do I do that I wonder? On my list, are the books by Suzanne Collins. I also want Joan Didion's new book and The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer.
Brenda, I want to read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer too! Ooh, I'm so excited. My agent is the author of Asphodel and she just sent me a copy. Yay! Merry early Christmas to me. :)
Santa, if you’re listening, I’d like John Green’s THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. I know it doesn’t come out until January, but I’ve been extra good this year. Sort of. Except for that one thing.
I want, I want, I want... Darcy & Fitzwilliam, and the Therese Walsh book, and the newest Misty Lackey, and Sueann Bowling's Tourist Trap, and... an eon to read all 'em in.
I have some of these books on my list too! I am also hoping for Wonderstruck because I am excited to read it- but it is a little pricey for me right now. Also, I would love a gift certificate to the Barnes and Noble near me(or a small local book store). It is such a treat to get to pick out books!
I love receiving books, too. There are so many on my list this year I don't know where to begin! The classic Barbara Cooney picture books will be great Xmas gifts, then there's Joyce Carol Oates and Ray Bradbury's books ... and many more.
I've got several of these on my wishlist, as well. I always just ask people to get me an Amazon GC or one for B&N. I want to read the first of the Mortal Instruments series next from my wishlist, I think. I hope you get the books you want!

Destined is on mine too! Others are: The Iron Knight, Divergent, Possesion, The Tigers wife, Fire

ReplyDeleteI love this idea, Kelly. My wish is also a book list that I gave to my children in hopes of receiving books I've been drooling over.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Eliza. I'm adding these to my list right now.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, yes, I've heard of Under the Never Sky. It does look good! I'm with you about the gift card, only I have a Kindle so I want an Amazon one.
ReplyDeleteJoDee, I gave my husband my book list, too! I hope you get the books you want.
ReplyDeleteI put the strong hint out for Joyce Carol Oates' book, "Telling Stories," which is based on her seminars at Princeton. Should be a fascinating insight to one of our most amazing and prolific writers.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, my list is on hold because I have so many unread books on my Kindle. If I had to ask for anything, it would be more time!
ReplyDeleteFun question! I've always got books on my Christmas wish list! Some of them: Demonic by Ann Coulter, In Stitches by Anthony Young, MD and Journey to Nowhere by Shiva Naipaul.
ReplyDeleteKaren, I hope your hint works!
ReplyDeleteAnne, I'm with you on needing more time. Let me know if you get it. ;)
ReplyDeleteLynn, thanks for sharing. I'm looking these up.

ReplyDeleteRachel, I don't have a bookstore in my area either. :( Oh, I miss my Borders. An Amazon gift card sounds like it would be a good gift for you.
ReplyDeleteThe Desert Rocks, oh I have a huge pile waiting for me too, but I can't help myself. I want more books anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteI want everything by Diana Wynne Jones, (LOL!) and everything illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman. (another LOL!) Anything after that is a bonus.
ReplyDeleteMy book-wish is for a book by an author I haven’t discovered yet. Those are the best gifts. A few years back a friend gave me one of Richard Peck’s, and to this day the gift keeps giving… I’ve read as many of his historical as I could find.
ReplyDeleteCat, it's good that you know what you like. :)
ReplyDeleteMirka, I love discovering new authors or authors who are at least new to me, too.
ReplyDeleteI just want to get through the books on my current reading pile. I am currently reading the Other Boleyn Sister (loving it) but it wasn't on the list of things to read. ReplyDeleteBigfoot, LOL! I hope Santa brings you a Christmas miracle in the form of an advanced copy of Green's book.
ReplyDeleteI want, I want, I want... Darcy & Fitzwilliam, and the Therese Walsh book, and the newest Misty Lackey, and Sueann Bowling's Tourist Trap, and... an eon to read all 'em in.
ReplyDeleteBeverly, I'll second the eon to read all the books in. :) I hope you get all of them.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! There are way too many for me to list, lol. I want to read Destined so bad!
ReplyDeleteI'm a book lover, for sure! I just have way too many I want. That's why I love my Kindle. I can carry them all with me.
ReplyDeleteCourtney, I know. I had a hard time narrowing my list down for this post. So many great books out there.
ReplyDeleteDonna, I just filled my Kindle with books I bought for my birthday with my Amazon gift card. I'm with you there.
ReplyDeleteI have some of these books on my list too! I am also hoping for Wonderstruck because I am excited to read it- but it is a little pricey for me right now. Jess, yes, it is a treat. Books have always been my favorite things to shop for, even as a kid.
ReplyDeleteI love receiving books, too. There are so many on my list this year I don't know where to begin! The classic Barbara Cooney picture books will be great Xmas gifts, then there's Joyce Carol Oates and Ray Bradbury's books ... and many more.
ReplyDeleteClaudine, classic picture books do make great gifts. :)
ReplyDeleteI read a few of these and some are in my TBR pile. The ones I don't have, I want.
ReplyDeleteA book I'm really looking forward to is Beth Revis' A Million Suns.
Medeia, ooh, I'm adding that to my list. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI've asked Santa for The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, Frogspell by C.J. Busby, and The Apothecary by Maile Meloy.
ReplyDeleteI bet somebody will get me a B&N gift card, as usual. :) I'm giving 3 gift cards and 4 books!
ReplyDeleteHope you get your wish list filled, Kelly. Here's to a wonderful holiday for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteAnne, ooh good ones!
ReplyDeleteMarcia, I bought gift cards and books for others too. They are my favorite gifts to give and receive.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lee. And to you too!
ReplyDeleteI've got several of these on my wishlist, as well. I always just ask people to get me an Amazon GC or one for B&N. I want to read the first of the Mortal Instruments series next from my wishlist, I think. I hope you get the books you want!
ReplyDeleteShannon, I love gift cards. Seriously, they are my favorite gifts. I want to read the Mortal Instruments series too.
