- Birthday parties My daughter had her 5th birthday party yesterday. It was fun but exhausting.
- Author events Last week was crazy busy with three author events, but I had a blast at all of them. Signings and school visits are such a great time.
- Drafting again Now that my busy week is over I intend to finish my WIP this week. As much fun as last week was, I'm happy to get back to writing, writing, writing!
- Leap Day I love Leap Day. That's one extra day to write!
- Reading I haven't had as much time to read lately, and it's making me a little sad. I have to squeeze more time in my day.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?
Great attitude with number 4! I haven't done a ton of writing lately. The kids have been keeping me busy. Today is the day I reorder some backstory in my YA novel and get ready to submit. Hoping to be done within a month!
ReplyDeleteYay, Sheri. That's exciting. Good luck with it! ;)
DeleteHappy belated Bday to your daughter for me :) Oooh hadn't even thought of the 29th. But you are right. An extra day to write. Wish it would be declared a holiday :D
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your WIP.
Cecilia, that would be nice if Leap Day was a holiday for everyone. I love that idea. ;)
DeleteWe're always saying we need to find more time somehow. And here it is - Leap Day. Happy Writing ;)
ReplyDeleteGood point! We got our wish. ;)
DeleteHappy birthday to your daughter!
ReplyDeleteNothing special on my mind today -- translating, blogging, doing laundry and the other chores, the usual. :)
Sometimes the usual is good. ;)
DeleteHappy birthday to your little beauty.
ReplyDeleteOn my mind today. Studying, hopefully writing, household chores. Things are settling down, and writing related things are getting more time.
Best wishes on your books.
I'm glad you are getting more time to write, Terrie. And thanks for the good wishes. :)
DeleteAn extra day is exciting. I hadn't even thought about Leap Year.
ReplyDeleteToday, I have promotional items on my mind. My books going to print in a few days and I haven't decided what to get yet. Everything looks so amazing it's hard to choose. Hopefully I'll have something ordered in the next couple of days.:)
Ooh, that sounds fun. I can't wait to see what you choose.
DeleteI'm revising. Between reading and correcting student essays. And skimming Chaucer to teach The Miller's Tale this week.
ReplyDeleteI taught Chaucer while I was student teaching. Enjoy!
DeleteGlad the party was fun! I am sure you need a day to recover. I love Leap Day, too! I feel like I am getting some extra time. I have so much to do- I can use a couple more Leap Days. :) Happy writing!
ReplyDeleteI hear you! Let's have Leap Week!
DeleteKelly, I agree on #5. I love to read, which is of course one of the reasons I became a writer. Now in order to have more time to write, I must read less. I've been seriously thinking about giving up TV recently. I never thought I'd do that. Now if I could convince the rest of the family, I'd save money too!
ReplyDeleteMy Monday thought is that I got a new computer and I'm so excited about that. It had a sticker on it when I opened it that says, "Beauty. Brains. Bigtime possibilities." I'm liking that.
Love the sticker! Enjoy your new computer. I watch very little TV because I need the time to write and read, so I'm with you there!
DeleteGood luck with your drafting. I have about two or three more scenes to write for my WIP, so I am focusing on that this week.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you too!
DeleteI get sad when I don't have enough time to read too! I'm back to editing today, but on a new collection. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy editing! And congrats on the new book!
DeleteHappy birthday to your little girl and Happy Leap Day. Sounds like it will be an interesting week....
ReplyDeleteHopefully. As long as I finish this WIP, I'll be happy.
DeleteGlad your events and the birthday party went well! I'm hoping to get a few thousand words done on the WIP this week before bestie visits. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you too, Stacy!
DeleteThere should definitely be some kind of international Leap Day celebration! Things on my mind include pounding out some more words on my work in progress and revising a completed story. I got some really great editorial feedback that I'm excited to incorporate!
ReplyDeleteYay! Good luck, Adrianne. Great editorial feedback is liking striking oil!
DeleteI'll finally get to tell my aunt Happy Birthday on leap day. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your WIP. Your posts remind me that I have one too, but I never get around to working on it! lol
Happy birthday to your aunt! Leap day baby!
DeleteLOL. Get working on that WIP!
Happy 5th Birthday to your daughter--belated of course. Great perspective on Leap Year--one more day to write. I've been trying to get in some reading. Seems like the only time these days is when I at the gym.
ReplyDeleteI'm deep into another revision of my WIP. I hope to have it out to some beta's in a couple weeks.
Hope you're having a great day!
I'm only reading when I'm working out too. I need more time, but I've got to finish this WIP.
DeleteGood luck with your revisions!
Great stuff! My daughter has a birthday party coming up next month and I am not looking forward to how exhausting it is. Excited for her though. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck. We did the family only party, which is easier, but everyone came at different times, and that's a little crazy! I hope your party goes smoothly.
DeleteYour daughter and my son share a birthday! He turned 7 yesterday. Happy Birthday to her!
ReplyDeleteLeap Day is such a novelty, it's fun. It would be fun to have Leap Day festivities and the like. A holiday that had nothing to do with gift giving!

Happy birthday to your son! A holiday with no gift giving would be very nice!
DeleteHappy belated b-day to your daughter.
ReplyDeleteHappy writing and I do hope you get some reading done (it's my oxygen).
Have a great week.
Thanks! I'm going to read a bit right now. ;) I love the oxygen comment.
DeleteFinishing a WIP? That's big news! Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a final edit on one, but my mind keeps drifting to the one I started while letting the first one marinate. I'm having trouble concentrating.
I love birthday parties. I used to throw tea parties for my daughters on their birthdays so all their friends could show up in dress-up clothes and bring their favorite stuffed animal.
Enjoy your reading!
Judy
Judy, I have an idea for a new MS in my head and it's screaming at me to finish this one so I can write the new one while this one sits. Characters can be so demanding. ;)
Deletehappy Birthday to your daughter. birthdays are fun before cleaning the mess.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Yes, the cleaning part isn't so much fun. ;)
DeleteHappy birthday to your daughter. Enjoy those kid birthdays while they last. They're a lot of work but eventually they go away and then you'll miss them. I know what I'm talking about...
ReplyDeleteI have no doubt you are right, Annette! :)
DeleteHow about Tuesday thoughts? I am always chasing my tale with comments. I am working on a second MS now. I swear the second one is SO MUCH easier than the first. I hope your sweet girl had a good bday.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad this MS is easier for you to write, but I know all the hard work you did for the first one paid off. :)
DeleteI like to live through the exhausting events so that I can enjoy the non-exhausting ones. Glad your parties and visits were fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good way to look at it. :) They were very fun though. I enjoyed them a lot.
Deletehosting a 5 year old girls party is by all accounts exhausting!!!
ReplyDeleteThis was a family party so the number of kids was minimal. Thankfully!
DeleteAs busy as you are, you are doing so well keeping your work and your home life on an even keel. I don't know how you get the energy to do book signings along with all this. As for reading, sigh, I think many of us miss those days! I am trying to read my Goodreads goal this year, tho.
ReplyDeleteMy writing sometimes takes over and I lose reading time. As soon as I finish this WIP I'm focusing on reading for a good week before jumping into my next WIP idea.
DeleteHappy birthday to your little darlin'. May she have many, many more!
ReplyDeleteWow, you had 3 big book events, that's wonderful! You should be feeling pretty darn good about your writing these days, Kelly. Wish I could say the same!
Thanks, Allyn. I'm trying; that's for sure. I don't think you're doing too bad yourself.
