Lucky 7 Meme

I was tagged by Cherie Colyer for the Lucky 7 Meme. Thanks, Cherie. This is seriously the coolest tag I've ever gotten.

Here are the rules:

1. Go to page 77 of your current MS
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines - sentences or paragraphs - and post them as they're written. No cheating
4. Tag 7 authors
5. Let them know

Now, I have a slight problem because I just started a new WIP and I'm not up to page 77 yet, so I'm modifying this to page 7 for me. Here it goes:

YA Contemporary Romance titled Broken

I exit the courts and meet him on the grass, immediately wrapping my arms around him. He showered and smells all nice and clean, which makes me pull away. I’m sweaty, not anything too gross—Grayson and I spent most of the evening working on serves, but still. It’s never good to be the smelly girlfriend.
“You heading home?” Asher asks, holding my racket-free hand.
“Yeah, I think we’ve done all we can for one night.”
“So, what time tomorrow?” Grayson asks, putting her racket back into its bag. “Five or seven?”
And here are the 7 people I'm tagging:

And now for the rest of you. What's the 7th line on the 7th page of your WIP? Leave it in the comments, please.

  1. "And we will be so much better for it." Leaves you curious as to what I am talking about. Nice hook! Hey, I got an acceptance for my essay "The Womb of Imagination." (the one with me in the maple tree at the beginning, in the Willow Review lit magazine!

  4. Neat idea. Your wip sounds intriguing. What happens next? :) The 7th line of p. 7 of my story is "Yeah, us talking." (That tells you a lot. LOL.)

    1. LOL. Yeah, one-liners can be tough sometimes.

This is my YA contemporary romance--a first in two ways for me. It's in present tense and a contemporary. Eek! The "Five or seven" question is the source of some major tension coming up next believe it or not.

  5. You're right this is a good one. :-)

"Why get her involved in your treason?"

  6. Oh, love it! Great post, and great seven sentences. My seventh line from the seventh page is: “You’re nothing to him. You never were, and you never will be. You got that, freak?” Right in the middle of a tense scene.

  7. Great post. Here is mine from my current wip that's nearly finished PURE ONE:

“I don’t care if you don’t believe me.”

  11. This a fun way to end the week of drab. Thanks, Kelly. Here's my 7 line.

By the time the story had traveled the Hadleyville Whisper Circle, it wasn’t news anymore, and planning Gladys Neep’s 100th birthday party was, so everybody forgot that suspicious-odd thing.

  12. Love it!! My 7th line is: Then, as suddenly as it began, everything stops. <--kinda random but that's it =) The rest is on my blog, thanks for tagging me!

  13. I like this post. Mine is:

    "He did what?"

  14. I agree, that is one seriously sexy tag - and an original take on the blog-chains. After all, we writers would rather talk about out characters ( I think anyway).. Her is mine from a new WIP.
“Mama, are you listening to you daughter Rosa? Your youngest daughter bought a computer and she plans to tell the world your secrets. Strike her dead now or the world will know everything.”

  15. Ah! The post-tennis sweat dilemma. Love this bit of hot stuff. Good luck with your contemporary romance!

  20. So fun to see what everyone's lines are. I also enjoyed the teaser you shared! Hope the writing is going well.

Here's my page 7, 7th line: Under the pressure of Lizzy and Fairday intensely staring at him and holding a ticking stopwatch (they only allowed 2 minutes to solve the riddle) Peter, with sweat beading up on his brow, had blurted out, “A spider!” which made no sense at all.

  23. Ooh, I love reading all these lines.

    Here's mine:

He gave the Brenin Warder the plaingold ticket he had swiped, and said with a shy grin, “I brought ee Chanter a jugful o’ ale this morntide. He was thankful, eh?”
