Monday Mishmash 3/26/12

Happy Monday! I'm excited today, so my mind is a crazy mishmash of thoughts.
  1. Touch of Death tag line  I got my copy of PURE by Jennifer Armentrout and the cover for Touch of Death is in the back with this line: "Having poison running through your veins and a kiss that kills really puts a dent in high school." I may have cried tears of joy upon seeing it. ;)
  2. Beta time  I sent my YA contemporary romance off to my betas, and my critique group will be getting it soon, too.
  3. Hollyweird  I got this ARC from Netgalley and I devoured it.
  4. Spectral by Shannon Duffy  The release is just around the corner, and I can't wait to get my hands on it. It looks so good. I love books about witches.
  5. Easter  With Easter right around the corner I'm filling baskets and getting orders for Santa Bunny. Yay!
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. What's on my mind? I wish there was nothing on my mind, but things are swirling around in there and I can't seem to stop them.

My business has taken off this season, after a real slump, and I'm having a hard time getting used to being that busy and not having much time to write.

I still haven't started the submission process for my memoir. I have gathered together 48 agents to start querying and taken a look at who they are etc. But need to check their individual specifications and my query letter one more time.

I'm using Query Tracker so I need to go over the tracking instructions one more time to make sure I'm keeping my communications straight.

I'm trying to get back to blogging on a regular basis, like you do, but having a little problem with that.

And I've made a few commitments to do guest posts and book reviews.

I think I'm a little overextended, so thinking about how to cut back.

Now arent't you sorry you asked? :=)

  5. Congrats on the orders, Kelly. Oh, I love the Tag line! :)I haven't read Pure as yet, but I've heard it's awesome. I guess I'll have to start with the first book in the series. So many books so little time *sigh*

So, My Monday, I read a great MG book, reviewed it and I'm hosting the blog tour. Writing second chapter of my dark fantasy and yes, almost forgot, about to leave for my afternoon shift. :D

  6. Huge congrates on Touch of Death! That sounds fabulous. I know you're excited :) Terri Clark is a dear friend of mine. I received Hollyweird, but I haven't had a chance to dive in yet. Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

I'm deep in revisions. I submit to my critique group tomorrow night. If I'm not writing, I'm editing. It's been really busy lately, but I've never been happier :)

  8. I'm thinking that for Easter I'm going to go out and get little gifts for everyone, so when it's time for the basket hunt there will be a surprise in the baskets for everyone.

  9. EEK! Congrats on the tagline/cover exposure. That is way cool. What's on my mind is getting this new plot ironed out before I put my fist through the computer, my daughter's broken arm (she's taking it like a trooper) and figuring out what I'm going to do for Easter. Is it really almost April?

    1. Aw, your poor daughter. I'm glad she's being a trooper though.

Yes, it's almost April. Crazy, right?

Good luck with the new plot.

I finally finished an outline and put it away. That was a month ago. I don't know what was holding me back, but I finally wrote my first 1,000 words of Chapter 1!

Reading about your progress and others' progress seems to keep me going back to my work, so THANK YOU! :D

  24. I am leaving for New York on Wednesday and wondering when plan on packing. Other than that, working on my new WIP. I an truly enjoying the writing of this story. I want to write some short stories but haven't yet (need to read a few dozen shorts first). I need to figure out where to send the non-fiction piece you edited for me (wonderful as always) and I am going to writer's conference at the end of May. I rather terrified to go. OK, not really terrified, but a tad nervous. I hope you stuff your Easter basket with good stuff..:-)

    1. Wow, Brenda, you are busy, busy, busy! Good luck with all of that. Writers conferences are so much fun. Enjoy! And definitely find a place to submit that nonfiction piece. Have fun in NY.

  26. Sounds like lots to be excited about, Kelly. Congrats!

This week I'll hit the 20,000 word mark on my current WIP. Last week getting words down was like pulling teeth, but yesterday things started flowing again. I'm looking forward to moving forward with this story and hopefully holding onto this flow.

  28. Yesterday, I was pondering:

    1) Running away and living in the mountains
    2) Finishing editing the first 20 pages of a story
    3) Making root beer floats
    4) Holistic remedies to seasonal allergies
    5) My posts for the A to Z blogging challenge
