Be Inspired

The lovely Brenda at Passionate Pursuits tagged me in the Be Inspired blog hop. I have to answer 10 questions and mention 5 writers who inspire me. Here I go!

1. What is the name of your book?
Touch of Death

2. Where did the idea for the book come from?
I was writing another manuscript at the time and it had the 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus, in it. I discovered a lesser known myth about Ophiuchus and Medusa, and Touch of Death was born from there.

3. In what genre would you classify your book?
Paranormal

4. If you had to pick actors to play your characters in a movie, who would you pick?
The girl on my cover is my vision for Jodi. I want to know if she can act. As for Alex, I'm not really sure. It's hard for me to find actors who look the way I envision my characters.

5. Provide a synopsis.
Jodi Marshall isn’t sure how she went from normal teenager to walking disaster. One minute she’s in her junior year of high school, spending time with her amazing boyfriend and her best friend. The next she’s being stalked by some guy no one seems to know.

After the stranger, Alex, reveals himself, Jodi learns he’s not a normal teenager and neither is she. With a kiss that kills and a touch that brings the dead back to life, Jodi discovers she’s part of a branch of necromancers born under the 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus. A branch of necromancers that are descendents of Medusa. A branch of necromancers with poisoned blood writhing in their veins.

Jodi’s deadly to the living and even more deadly to the deceased. She has to leave her old, normal life behind before she hurts the people she loves. As if that isn’t difficult enough, Jodi discovers she’s the chosen one who has to save the rest of her kind from perishing at the hands of Hades. If she can’t figure out how to control her power, history will repeat itself, and her race will become extinct.

6. Is your book published/represented?
Touch of Death is represented by my amazing agent, Lauren Hammond and will be published January 15, 2013 by Spencer Hill Press.

7. How long did it take to write the book?
I drafted it in 14 days.

8. What other books in your genre would you compare it to?
Shatter Me meets The Walking Dead.

9. What authors inspired you to write this book?
Lauren Hammond, my awesome agent, was a huge inspiration for this book. She was very excited about it and cheered me on as I drafted.

10. Tell us anything that might pique interest in your book.
Here's my log line created by Spencer Hill Press: Having poison running through your veins and a kiss that kills really puts a dent in high school.

Now, tag five writers:
Rachel Harris
Trisha Wolfe
Jolene Perry
Shannon Duffy
Brenda Drake

And for everyone else, tell me about your WIP in the comments. I'd love to hear about them. :)
