- Giveaway winner! Congrats to Amber Garcia. She won the zombie deer, compact mirror, bookmark, and sticker. Amber, I've emailed you to get your mailing address.
- Edits Last week was an intense few days of editing for Touch of Death, but it's finished! Yay!
- Back to planning While I wait for edits on the sequel to Touch of Death, I'll be continuing to plan the next manuscript I have in mind. Planning is so exciting!
- Reading Last week was really busy for me and my reading suffered. I'm hoping to catch up this week.
- Picture book sketches My editor told me I'd get to see sketches for one of my upcoming picture books this week. Seeing how an illustrator pictures my characters is always exciting.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?
Glad to see you're keeping busy. Doing some heavy revisions this week. Looking forward to it. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your revisions. :)
DeleteOooh! Picture book sketches, that's so exciting! I hope they turn out great. And congrats on finishing your edits!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Majanka! And yes, I'm looking forward to seeing the sketches.
DeleteDo you find when you're planning a new idea that a couple of ideas sort of gallop off, and later when you look at the plan you have to shake your head at the plot outline?...or is that just me :)
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I rarely use my notes when I'm drafting. I let the characters lead me. My planning is more for getting to know my characters and the general story, but I stray from it all the time.
DeleteI'm with you there, Kelly! Once those characters begin to develop they really do take on a life of their own and take us writers in directions we haven't necessarily expected. It's part of the fun of writing fiction! You sound incredibly busy. I'm in awe of writers with more than one project on the go. How do you do it?
DeleteWriting full time really helps. During the school year, I get a lot done because I'm the only one home. That means a lot of writing. :)
DeleteCongrats on the finished edits, Kelly. You're right: planning a new novel (or a sequel) is always exciting. :) I'm writing out the ending of my MG novel this and next week while I wait for more illustrations for the next PB to be turned in. Students are preparing for the exams and we're swamped with revisions. Help ~
ReplyDeleteAw, good luck with all that. I know it seems like a lot, but you'll get it done. :)
DeleteYou did have a busy week, but it was fun too, right?
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting on edits from the editor on my next book. Should have them any day now.
Seeing the illustrations for your picture book is always exciting.
Have a nice week.
Definitely fun!
DeleteGood luck with the edits. I'll be getting edits on the sequel to Touch of Death mid-August. Looking forward them.
Enjoy your week!
Got to catch up on my writing. Too many pots on the stove, but I feel balanced and organized...:) Yay!
ReplyDeleteBeing organized makes a huge difference, doesn't it? Good luck!
DeleteSounds like it'll be a promising week!
ReplyDeleteI hope so. :)
DeleteCongrats on finishing your edits, Kelly. Still waiting for mine. Plotting is fan, isn't it? I'm still determined to catch up with you...and write at least 4 books this year...(LOL, I could hope)
ReplyDeleteLOL. I'm trying to hold off on number 5 until the end of August. It's killing me though. I may cave.
DeleteWow, you have been really busy and very productive! I've begun work on draft 2 of my WIP. I want to have something worthy of sending to beta readers by fall.
ReplyDeleteGood goal. Good luck with it.
DeleteBusy week, as usual, Kelly. Congratulations on finishing your edits. I am just about to go into mine. Have one or two more scenes to write for my digital holiday short, then its editing time.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.
Good luck with edits, Karen!
DeleteYou are amazingly busy and diverse with your writing!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! That's sweet of you to say.
DeleteCongrats on finishing up the edits!! I just finished a major revision on my WIP. Now I need to go through it once more for some minor changes, and then I send it off to my agent. Woohoo!!
ReplyDeleteYay! That's always exciting. :)
DeleteSounds like a busy week. I'm working on edits while book 2 ferments for while. But a book I stopped working on last month has started talking again so it's about time to pull it back out. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it sounds like it is time to pull that back out.
DeleteI love the whole planning thing!
ReplyDeleteThe only problem I have is that I love planning so much that I never get to the writing part. lol
Actually, I have to give myself props. I wrote 1500 words yesterday to add to my WIP. :D
Yay! Great job, Diane.
DeleteYeah, at some point you have to say that's enough planning and just write the thing. ;)
Congrats to Amber! Happy to have finished a piece for another site ( their subject was 'Heat' for the month of August. It was hanging over me like a anvil. I wrote three pieces before I got the one I wanted. Glad it's behind me. And congrats on finishing the edits, that must be a relief. Are you getting excited or have you moved beyond that stage into raw energy?
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, I'm still kind of in disbelief. LOL. Sometimes I think I must be dreaming. ;)
DeleteI agree, planning is so exciting! And seeing the sketches for your book is great!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm very excited to see them.
DeleteYou're having one busy summer, Kelly! Congrats to the winner.
ReplyDeleteYup. And that's the way I like it. :)
DeleteHow fun to get to see the sketches! I bet that is an awesome feeling. Hope you can do some more reading this week- but great that you had such a productive week last week. Yeah for Amber!
ReplyDeleteI am off to the airport soon to pick up my fiance (he has been away for a week). Not much work will be getting done today- but this week I will be reading and writing. :)
~Jess
Yay for your fiance coming home. Good luck with your reading and writing this week, Jess.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Medeia!
DeleteCongrats to the winner, and to you, Kelly, for finishing the edits. Planning and exploring the next idea for a story is always fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm neck deep with editss as well, and I'm loving it. Discovering all those details I missed during the first draft.
It's great when you can easily see what you need to fix. Good luck with it.
DeleteOh wow, you have so many exciting things going on. I've had a rewrite request... So I'm working on it!

Hi, Beth. Thank you for following and for the nice comments about Touch of Death.
DeleteCongratulations to the winner! How exciting to be able to see upcoming sketches of your book.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donna. I'm very excited.
DeleteI'm waiting to hear back from my beta readers and editor on the book, and taking regular looks at the text myself.
ReplyDeleteBeyond that, I'm starting to plan the next book, which will be a prequel.
Prequel—very cool! Good luck with it.
