1. Revise/Rewrite I'm working on a revision of INTO THE FIRE that requires me to rewrite most of the book. Same concept but from a different angle, and it's amazing! I'm so excited with how it's turning out.
2. Touch of Death Tattoo! The totally amazing Keren Spencer got a tattoo of the 13th sign of the zodiac in my book. It might be the coolest thing I've ever seen.
4. Picture Day Picture day at my daughter's school is tomorrow. I volunteered to help the PTO with it. Can't wait to see my little girl smile pretty.
5. Proud Mom My daughter had her first math test in kindergarten, and she got a 100%. So proud of her.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?
You are inspiring! Edits = rewriting and you are so positive about it (which is the right way, I know, but can be so hard...)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your daughter's success - that is great!
Thanks, E.D. I really think no writing is wasted. I enjoyed writing the book the first time and it took that to see that there's a better angle. I know it's worth the effort to rewrite it. :)
DeleteSo when are you getting your tattoo?
ReplyDeleteNo tattoos for me. I'll just admire Keren's. :)
DeleteSweet tatoo but ouch!
ReplyDeleteOooooooh, pretty ARC's!
My daughter lost her front bottom tooth a couple of days before picture day so im nervous for them.
Well that's not as bad as the front top tooth. I'm sure she'll look adorable. :)
DeleteHow do you revise/ re-write with such positivity?! The thought of having to go back and re-write a chapter or delete a whole sequence of dialogue etc. because it's rubbish really eeks me. I guess I just don't like admitting I got it wrong the first time:)
ReplyDeleteThat tattoo is insane ...
Happy Monday!

Well, I'm not revising because what I wrote was bad. I'm doing it because I found a better angle to the story. So in my mind, that's not a negative at all. And the story is so much better this way, so that's really encouraging.
DeleteI'm rewriting/revising too. It's scary for me. I'm enjoying it, but I don't want to send it back and the editor say, "You made it worse.":)
ReplyDeleteProud Mom moments are amazing. I had one a couple of weeks ago with my son, who is also in kindergarten. He is reading at the highest level in his class. It's an awesome feeling to know I taught him that.
Good luck with your revisions!
That is awesome! Congrats to your son and good luck with your edits.
DeleteI actually love re-writing so much that I do it before I ever get to finish...hmmm, maybe that's why I never finish? lol
ReplyDeleteLOL. I don't revise as I go any more. It definitely slows things down when you do.
DeleteI saw that tatoo the other day! Kelly, that is so cool!! Oh, and I'd love and ARC!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get my hands on them!
DeleteBusy busy! Congrats on the ARCs--so cool! And glad to hear revising is going so well. I love when things come together like that.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I'm so glad it's going well.
DeleteI don't do tattoos either, but it looks pretty darn cool.
ReplyDeleteLove the cover of TOD.
Having three older kids myself, I miss those K-garten days!! What fun!
As for me, I'm currently doing a major rewrite on a project that (I thought) was complete, but now is a WIP...ugh! On the bright side, I am loving the changes I've made so far and where it's going. I also think the book will appeal to agents/publishers/readers more. Of course, I just wish I'd thought of it sooner! ha ha
LOL. Me too! Sounds like we are in similar positions. Good luck!
DeleteI'm a sucker for tattoos. That is super cool. I've done the whole rewriting great chucks of my book too. The results are amazing so I try not to dwell on what I'm deleting.
ReplyDeleteYup, that's what I'm doing too.
DeleteVery cool tatoo, Kelly. ARCs? Very exciting! And congratulations to your daughter on her test. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen!
DeleteI admire your enthusiasm for such intensive rewriting!
ReplyDeleteHave fun at picture day. I always enjoyed days when I volunteered at my daughter's school witnessing all that youthful energy.
Thanks, Ann.
DeleteI'm looking forward to helping out again. I love seeing my daughter at her school.
I think my rewrites are going well too! (I don't know because no one else has read it yet). What do we have to do to get an ARC???
ReplyDeleteLOL. I should mention that all my ARCs are already spoken for. Requests have to go through my publisher.
DeleteCongratulations on the advanced copies, the math test and everything. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteKelly, good luck on your rewrite! I certainly know what's it like to start from scratch but it's SO worth it!
ReplyDeleteIt really is.
DeleteThe tattoo looks great...and fresh! ouchy ;)
ReplyDeleteThe ARCs look fantastic too! Congrats :)
Yeah, Keren said it didn't hurt though. I was glad to hear it. :)
DeleteWe we've just started two weeks of school holidays. Which means I have a little more time to read blogs and write... Yippee
ReplyDeleteAnd today we're off to feed some turtles ... I get inspired while the kids have fun.
Ooh, enjoy the turtles. I'm sure they'll be happy to see you (and food). ;)
DeleteI'm in recovery mode. My weekend of total relaxation didn't prepare me for Monday!
ReplyDeleteI read your post about your relaxing weekend. Sounds like you had a great time. Unfortunately, Monday always comes. (Although I secret love Mondays.)
DeleteSo glad to hear that the revisions/rewriting is going so well! How exciting! Hope picture day is a hit. :) I am trying to catch up from a busy weekend when I wasn't home much.
ReplyDelete~Jess
Thanks, Jess. I'll have to play catch up after today. I'll be at my daughter's school and that will set me back writing wise.
DeleteBe very proud. Don;t you love it when a story is all the more stronger after changes? Give me chills.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm really excited about these changes. Only about 30K left to go in the rewrite.
DeleteYay for your daughter. Ooh...ARCs.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool tattoo.
Thanks, Medeia!
DeleteThe ARC's look amazing!!! I can not wait to read Touch of Death!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amber! :)
DeleteI have a feeling that my will revision process will be pretty similar to yours, but I'm looking forward to it! Change is (mostly) good! That's awesome about your daughter's spelling test! Sounds like she's a good little student :)
ReplyDelete*my revision
DeleteHaha not my will revision! I don't quite have a will yet...
I knew what you meant. :)
DeleteThe ARCs look great!
ReplyDeleteAnd good for your daughter!
Thanks, William!
Deletegood luck with rewrite. i can see how it would be so surreal to have something you wrote appear as a tat on someone else. sounds like your daughter is kicking school's butt! good stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks. The rewrite is all finished. Yay! Yeah, Keren's tattoo is awesome. I was blown away. And yes, my daughter is doing well. I'm so proud of her. :)
DeleteSounds like everything is going ok for you. And how proud you must be that she got 100%. Good for her!
