Monday Mishmash 9/24/12

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:

1. Revise/Rewrite  I'm working on a revision of INTO THE FIRE that requires me to rewrite most of the book. Same concept but from a different angle, and it's amazing! I'm so excited with how it's turning out.

2. Touch of Death Tattoo!  The totally amazing Keren Spencer got a tattoo of the 13th sign of the zodiac in my book. It might be the coolest thing I've ever seen.

3. Touch of Death ARCs Look what arrived at Spencer Hill Press!

4. Picture Day  Picture day at my daughter's school is tomorrow. I volunteered to help the PTO with it. Can't wait to see my little girl smile pretty.

5. Proud Mom  My daughter had her first math test in kindergarten, and she got a 100%. So proud of her.

That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. You are inspiring! Edits = rewriting and you are so positive about it (which is the right way, I know, but can be so hard...)
Congratulations on your daughter's success - that is great!

    1. Thanks, E.D. I really think no writing is wasted. I enjoyed writing the book the first time and it took that to see that there's a better angle. I know it's worth the effort to rewrite it. :)

  2. So when are you getting your tattoo?

  3. Sweet tatoo but ouch!
    Oooooooh, pretty ARC's!
My daughter lost her front bottom tooth a couple of days before picture day so im nervous for them.

    1. Well that's not as bad as the front top tooth. I'm sure she'll look adorable. :)

  4. How do you revise/ re-write with such positivity?! The thought of having to go back and re-write a chapter or delete a whole sequence of dialogue etc. because it's rubbish really eeks me. I guess I just don't like admitting I got it wrong the first time:)

    That tattoo is insane ...

    Happy Monday!

    1. Well, I'm not revising because what I wrote was bad. I'm doing it because I found a better angle to the story. So in my mind, that's not a negative at all. And the story is so much better this way, so that's really encouraging.

  5. I'm rewriting/revising too. It's scary for me. I'm enjoying it, but I don't want to send it back and the editor say, "You made it worse.":)

Proud Mom moments are amazing. I had one a couple of weeks ago with my son, who is also in kindergarten. He is reading at the highest level in his class. It's an awesome feeling to know I taught him that.

    Good luck with your revisions!

  6. I actually love re-writing so much that I do it before I ever get to finish...hmmm, maybe that's why I never finish? lol

    1. LOL. I don't revise as I go any more. It definitely slows things down when you do.

  7. I saw that tatoo the other day! Kelly, that is so cool!! Oh, and I'd love and ARC!!

  8. Busy busy! Congrats on the ARCs--so cool! And glad to hear revising is going so well. I love when things come together like that.

  9. I don't do tattoos either, but it looks pretty darn cool.
    Love the cover of TOD.
Having three older kids myself, I miss those K-garten days!! What fun!

As for me, I'm currently doing a major rewrite on a project that (I thought) was complete, but now is a WIP...ugh! On the bright side, I am loving the changes I've made so far and where it's going. I also think the book will appeal to agents/publishers/readers more. Of course, I just wish I'd thought of it sooner! ha ha

  10. I'm a sucker for tattoos. That is super cool. I've done the whole rewriting great chucks of my book too. The results are amazing so I try not to dwell on what I'm deleting.
