Monday Mishmash and Very Inspiring Blogger Award

Happy Monday! Along with my mishmash of thoughts, I received the Very Inspiring Blogger Award from Medeia Sharif. Thanks, Medeia! So here's a shortened mishmash and my blog award:

  1. Stalked by Death cover reveal  The cover of Stalked by Death will be revealed this Friday! I'm really excited because it's soooooo gorgeous. Seriously, guys, it's amazing.
  2. Kindergarten  Grrr. I'm not happy with my daughter's school at all. I have to go in tomorrow and find out why I haven't received any information (like the fact that I was supposed to send snack in everyday).
  3. Free Monthly Newsletter  It's that time again. My newsletter goes out this evening. If you aren't signed up to receive it, you can do so here.
  4. Very Inspiring Blogger Award Again, thank you, Medeia. She's an amazing writer and blogger, so if you don't already follow her, you should do that now.

I have to tell you 7 things about myself and pass this award on to some inspiring bloggers.
    1. I have an extra rib on the left side.
    2. I've never dyed my hair... yet.
    3. I'm extremely protective of my family.
    4. I struggle with anemia.
    5. My love of writing goes so far that I'd call it an addiction.
    6. I love playing with Monster High dolls just as much as my daughter. ;)
    7. Paranormal is my favorite genre. (I kind of think you all suspected that already.)
And here are the very inspiring bloggers I'm passing this award on to:

That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Very excited for the cover reveal! I don't get to drop off or pick up my daughter at school because of work and I feel so disconnected. But I like her school so far, same school I went to. You must have gorgeous hair if you've never dyed it. OMG, an extra rib?!

    1. LOL. Yeah, I used to call my extra rib my "cracky rib" when I was little because I can move it a little. Weird, right?

I'm glad you like your daughter's school. I'm still on the fence with my daughter's.

    2. She's not getting bullied or anything, is she? Or are the teachers overly aggressive?

    3. No, she's not. And she's doing much better now. She's settled in.

  2. I've never dyed my hair either!!! I don't have a need for it at the moment...no interest for some reason. :)

    1. Same here. It always seemed like a hassle to me. One day I'll need to, but until then...

  3. I dye my hair - with henna! Wait till you go grey!! Sorry about daughter's school. Hope you sort it soon. Be patient and smile.

  4. Sorry to hear about your daughter's kindergarten, I hope it will improve. Congrats on the reward!

  5. I've been dyeing my hair all kinds of colors since I was about 14. Mostly black back then, but sometimes very red. Then I kind of fell in love with the red and I've been kind of auburn ever since. I still kind of want to go 100% bright blue or green someday though. We'll see!

I realized this week how glad I am that my girls aren't in Kindergarten yet. I'm not ready to let them go! They start preschool this week though, and I'm definitely looking forward to a few extra writing hours each week. Hope you find out what was going on at your daughter's Kindergarten!

    1. I hope so too. The former teacher in me doesn't want to be "that parent" but I might have to if they don't start giving me some info.

Enjoy your time with your girls. It's so precious.

  6. Aw... Monster High dolls.. I love those! My daughter complained, told me it's like I bought them for myself and not for her :D Sooo excited to see Stalked By Death cover. Hope everything goes well with your daughter's Kindergarten. Congrats on the award! :)

  7. Hi Kelly,
Good morning. Congrats on the blogging award! Say, at some point I'd love to interview you for my blog. I do pretty cool author interviews. Let's talk about that sometime if interested.
I struggle with anemia, too and take a herbal iron supplement.

I take iron, too. It usually helps, but not always.

  11. Good luck with your daughter's school. There's nothing more distracting and frustrating than not being able to get answers.

  12. Yeah for another cover reveal! Congrats. :)

  13. Oooh, I got an award....thank you, thank you. Looking forward to teh cover reveal. It is sooooo gorgeous. Yeah, it gets frustrating when the teacher is not on top of things. My kids' school tend to let parents know what's what during Back to School night. I'm not sure which one is worse, having to take a snack everyday or once a month for the whole class.

    1. You're welcome! We did the once a month snack last year at pre-K. I just wish they would've told me I needed to send her with snack. I feel like I'm in the dark over here.

  14. Oops, should have mentioned I was part of the cover reveal team (showing off), that's how I know it's gorgeous!!!

  15. Schools often fail to meet our expectations as over protective moms ( I suspect you and I are alike in the mom job). Excited to see the cover... and finally many thanks for the award. I wonder what I can share since in my writing I am rather open.. Let me think!

    1. I know I had a hard time thinking of anything new to share. I'm kind of an open book on here. :)

  17. Hey, those are some good blogs you chose. I wish you luck in straightening out things at your daughter's school. That kind of snafu can be rather unnerving.

  21. I feel for you, Kelly. Those days of communicating with the schools is over for me, thank goodness!

For the past several years, in Tallahassee, they're implemented a parent portal so we can help keep our children on track, but it didn't work because some of the newer teachers would post grades and the older anti-technology teachers wouldn't.

Hang in there, you'll have it much better in years to come!

  26. I hope you work out the problems with the pre-school/kindergarten. They sound very disorganized. How annoying for you. But congrats on all your other good news! :-)

  27. Congrats on the award and the cover reveal. My daughter doesn't go to public school yet, we go through early schooling through a "Early Learning Center". Anyway I was never that parent until my child started to be affected by certain elements. At some point you just have to step up and start being a little more vocal- no rude but heard. Suddenly things change. Sad that you have to do that though.

    Good luck.

  29. Kelly, I so needed this today. I have just been feeling awful lately and haven't even had the energy to write. Then I logged into my e-mail and there was this award from you and two from another blogger and I am reminded that even on the worst of days, I'm sent a ray of sunshine to remind me that I am loved. Thank you so much!
