Monday Mishmash 11/5/12

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:
  1. Hurricane Sandy  It's official. I hate Hurricane Sandy. The destruction to NJ was incredible. Here in PA, it wasn't as bad, but my family is mostly in NJ and my husband (who works in NJ) is still off from work.
  2. Halloween  Thankfully, trick or treating was moved to Sunday so my daughter didn't miss out.
  3. Free Monthly Newsletter  My newsletter goes out at 5pm EST today. If you aren't already signed up and would like to receive it, you can sign up here.
  4. Normal week  My daughter and husband were both off all last week because of the hurricane. This week, I'm back to writing and editing like usual.
  5. LOVE ALL SWAG Giveaway  Very soon, I'll be hosting a giveaway for SWAG for my upcoming YA contemporary romance novella, LOVE ALL, releasing January 15, 2013 through Swoon Romance. Here's a picture of the coins I made so you can help Meg choose between Ash and Noah.

That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

    1. My sister lives at the Jersey Shore and they are supposed to be without power for another 7-10 days. It's so insane.

    1. Thanks, Shannon. I'm amazed at how many power lines are still all over the road. There are power trucks everywhere and still so much needs to be fixed.

  13. It was not a good week for NJ and NY last week. Hope the husband has stuff to do around the house to keep him sane.

On my mind or list: redraftng the second WIP. Staying out of trouble (BOOHOO) and meeting the new CEO of our company today. That's me.

  14. I don't blame you for hating Hurricane Sandy. We didn't have any damage here in Rochester, NY, but I feel for everyone who did. What's new here? Sick kids. First one, now another.

  15. My heart goes out to all the people who were hit hard by Sandy. My area of CT wasn't too- bad, but in other places people lost their homes. I am so glad your daughter got to trick or treat. A lot of towns postponed it to this Wednesday and now they are saying we may have nor'easter that day. Yikes! I hope they are wrong. Happy editing!

    1. If this nor'easter happens, I'm going to be really upset. My sister is already without everything. Luckily her house is okay, but I'm not sure how much more some people can take.

  16. I agree re. Hurricane Sandy. We were fine here on the Upper West Side of Manhattan (apart from school being out for the week but work "on" for me), but Staten Island, Breezy Point, and, of course, NJ were devastated. It is just plain awful.
    Best to your family!

  17. I love the coins.

It's horrible what people are still going through with Sandy. It won't be easy to resume normal living in some areas, but it will happen. I'm hoping for full recovery--although some things might never be the same--after that devastation.

  18. Ooh, shiny! Pretty coins!

Sorry about the darn hurricane causing you all so much trouble.

Me, I'm editing and proofreading a translation before I send it to the publisher.

  19. Thank goodness you all survived Sandy! The pictures over here looked horrendous. And I gather there are STILL people in NY without power. Amazing! Stay well.

  20. I'm glad to hear you and your family are safe and sound. I can't tell you how many hurricanes I've been through (former Floridian here), but I can't think of a single one where we didn't get power back within the week, or had as much flooding as I've seen on TV from Sandy. Here's hoping NJ and NY get back on their feet soon.

  21. Glad you are safe and now out freezing trying to vote. My brother was in Virgina so he wasn't hit much either thank goodness. I feel awful for NJ and NY. Hurricanes are devastating. I hope everything gets back on track for you and everyone else soon. What's on my mind: just doing another read of my short story before sending it off. That and feeling like an idiot for hurting my foot, which I am pretty sure is just sprained. What a huge inconvenience with children :-) Happy election day.

  25. We lost power for 4 days (see my latest blog post on the hurricane ordeal). I feel especially bad for those on Staten Island and in Breezy Point. NYC needs some sea walls and an emergency power backup system, so that Con Ed doesn't hold all of the power.
