Monday Mishmash 4/22/13

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:

  1. Family Expo 2013  I'll be at the Family Expo held at East Stroudsburg High School South on Sunday from noon to 3pm. I'll be displaying my books and talking about writing.
  2. Reading  Somehow I'm managing to find more time to read. I'm not even sure how I'm doing it.
  3. Edits  Just sent off edits for Face of Death (Touch of Death #3), which made me cry. There are some emotional moments. Now I'm getting back to edits on Into the Fire, which also has a section that gets me every time. I need more tissues.
  4. Revising for my agent  In the midst of all my edits, I'm also revising a novella to hand over to my lovely agent. Good thing I love editing and revising so much. ;)
  5. Allergies  This crazy weather is killing me. One day it's 80 the next it's 50. I'm sneezing like I'm trying to set a world record, and I wake up every morning with a sore throat. I'd love some consistent temperatures.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  3. I've finally got my asthma under control - since last Tuesday, and started the day with a 5.4 mile walk around my village
I'm behind on my writing, but have a week of work this week so I'll be editing my WIP before I hand it over to my beta readers on 30th April! Shakes.
I've been on top of my blogging and reviewing but I'm starting to lag...gar, never enough hours in a day.

  4. I wish I could find time to read. Good luck with your expo.

    1. Beth, one of my tricks (that I realized this morning while on someone else's blog) is that I have my Kindle read to me while I'm getting ready in the morning and while I'm cooking. Those few minutes here and there add up!

  5. You are seriously a revising machine! Totally impressed :)

  6. Spring temperatures are confusing, aren't they? It's the allergies that are getting to me - high ratings on the sneeze-o-meter. (Which always amazes me since not very much grows around here.)
Congrats on all those edits! Have a nice week! :-)

    1. Oh, I'm sneezing like crazy. It's so annoying. I have year-round allergies too, so no breaks for me.

  7. Allergies. Ug. (that's all I've got to say about that!)

  8. I'm always impressed with your writing/revising/editing output!

  9. I need a reading vacation. I have at least ten books I'm itching to read, but haven't found the time to.

  10. Not prone to allergies (yet, knocking on wood), but fully aware of how lucky I am. Have co-workers simply miserable when we we have the wide temperature swings.

Posting today on a serious subject, date rape, for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and my personal experience with it. Feel free to NOT come by if it's triggering.

  11. I don't know how you juggle so many projects at once. I can only handle one of my own projects at a time. :)

    1. I wasn't always this way. I actually don't a choice because I have multiple books under contract and the deadlines overlap. I had to learn to work on multiple things at once. I can still only draft one book at a time though.

  12. I have too many appointments this week! How did I let that happen???

  13. I FINALLY moved from Blogger to *Wordpress-

    http://talkinganimaladdicts.com

(*You can't add "www" to the url and get to my site yet. I don't know why, but I'll work it out, eventually...)

I won't be updating regularly for awhile, but at least I made the move without crashing this time.

I'll still keep the Blogger site open for a bit longer so people who have it bookmarked can make the move before I fully take it down.

Still plugging away at various WIPs, and I WISH it was going faster, I really do.

I'm trying to read more novels than I did over the winter. I mostly read craft books and various narrative nonfiction books, but I need to bring more fiction back into my life.

I'm still waiting to just BEGIN edits on the book I sold in January. Another reason I really need to draft faster...

    2. Thanks. Some parts of the site aren't up or working yet. But the brunt of the difficulty is behind me.

  14. I think I've only had a book I was writing make me cry once! (When I had to kill a boy I'd fallen in love with...) I'm impressed. Must be some really emotional climax moments.

    1. I think I end up feeling so guilty for the things I put my characters through. One had such a breaking point that I broke down myself. His pain was so real to me, and hopefully it will be to my readers too. I think I have to feel everything I put on the page because I want to be true to the emotion. Crying or laughing as I write is a good indication that I'm doing that.

  15. This weather is nuts! No doubt about it. I hope your allergies calm down and you're able to feel some relief.

And I'm glad you're able to fit in even more time for reading - always a good thing!

And I can see why those edits would be sentimental for you. So understandable!

  17. This weather is getting on my nerves. You remained me, I need to get allergy medicine. I've been putting it off. The good kind cost so much -_-

    Have fun at the Expo!

  20. You're getting a lot done. I hope the weather settles down and these allergies go away.

  21. I always think it's a good sign when your work creates a strong emotional response in the writer. Sorry about the allergies though.

After a week's holiday with my family, I'm trying to return to relative normality. Lots to do. Lots of people wanting things. Lots of writing to get done.

    Have a great week.

  22. How do you do all this stuff and look after hubby and Ayla? And when are you coming to London???? Great place to visit!!!!

    1. I work while they are at school and work. Writing full time makes a big difference with how much I can get done.

I will get to London one day. It's on my list of "Must go there!" :)

  25. There's no consistency to the weather. Today it's warm (with supposedly rain to come, but no sign of it), and tomorrow the temperature takes another plunge.

Have fun with the Family Expo!

    1. Thanks, William.

Today is gorgeous, but we are supposed to get rain at some point here, too. Don't tell that to the clear skies though. ;)
