Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:
- Face of Death Giveaway There are still two days left to enter to win a signed paperback of my latest book, Face of Death (Touch of Death #3). Enter here.
- Scholastic Book Fair I spent way too much money at the book fair at my daughter's school last week, but Ayla was excited to get a bunch of new novels to read so I'm happy.
- Into the Fire edits I'm finishing up final edits on Into the Fire this week.
- Free Monthly Newsletter My monthly newsletter goes out at 5pm EST today. If you aren't signed up but would like to receive one, click here.
- Zombie Party Pics! As promised, here are some pictures from the zombie party for the release of Face of Death.

Chocolate blood fountain—how awesome is that? |
|
The Spencer Hill Press/ Spence City mini cakes were to die for! |
|
Looks yummy, right? |
|
Yes, people wanted to eat the plastic eyeballs. The sign was totally necessary. |

That's it for me. What's on your mind today?
Okay, I need to know what the greens things are in front of the fountain. Because they look like cucumber, by why in the world would you dip cucumbers in chocolate. Also, yeah for Into the Fire!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's cucumber. Everyone said the same thing you did until my editor insisted they try it and they all loved it. Seriously, try it.
DeleteInto the Fire edits are going well. :)
Love the cakes and eyeballs. On my mind this week is a new chapter that is refusing to be written, or at least written well. I know what I want to say but it just isn't happening. Need to give myself a stern talking to this morning. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI hope your stern talk goes well. Happy writing.
DeleteCongratulations! The zombie release party looks very cool! I love the polite manner in which you ask not to "eat the eyeballs". That's is classic! Good luck with FACE OF DEATH.
ReplyDeleteThat was all Kate's doing with the eyeball sign. ;)
DeleteThanks, Mike!
Aw...love the pics! And I hear you on spending too much at those Scholastic Book Fairs. Yikes!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteOh, I shouldn't work book fairs. lol My wallet always feels the impact.
Those minicakes look scrumptious... and people would seriously want to eat the eyeballs?
ReplyDeleteI think they assumed they were candy, but they were plastic.
DeleteLove the blood chocolate fountain! Good luck on your work this week, and, again, congratulations on your new release!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen!
DeleteCute pix and cakes! Looks like it was a super-fun time. I'm madly getting ready for my own launch. EEK!
ReplyDeleteYay! Good luck with it!
DeleteCool pics. Love the eyeballs in the grapes!
ReplyDeleteThanks! They were pretty awesome. ;)
DeleteKelly, you look so pretty! I love your hair and your outfit!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Gotta love the note about not eating the eyeballs. Fun stuff!
Thanks, Faith. I curled it in honor of Jodi's Medusa-like hair.
DeleteThanks for the party pics! The spread looks great, and I bet everyone had fun. When I was in elementary school, I'd bring home Scholastic book catalogs (for kids) and my mom would give me a spending limit. Then I'd figure out how many I could get and still stay under the limit. It was SO exciting when they'd finally arrive in a box! I bet Ayla's thrilled too. :)
ReplyDeleteAyla loves getting new books. She's reading 5 novels at once right now. Not sure how she keeps it all straight, but she does.
DeleteLooks delicious and fun! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt was! :)
DeleteCongratulations on your book release! Looks interesting. Is it available on Amazon?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is available on Amazon, Lisa. :)
DeleteThe party looks like so much fun! Great food decor- the eyeballs are awesome. I thought the sign was funny, but the fact that people wanted to eat them is funnier. :)
ReplyDelete~Jess
In people's defense they do make candy eyeballs. These didn't look like candy, but I guess I can see how people might just assume they were candy.
DeleteI love the photos, Kelly! Is that a tray with grapes and roast beef? Looks divine=) Scholastic book fairs are so much fun. I remember how excited I used to get when I would bring home the order form for my mom to order books from. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's grapes and roast beef. :) It was a big hit too.
DeleteI always loved book fairs too. So much fun.
Looks like a fun party. Congratulations on your book. And it's wonderful that your daughter loves to read.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Beverly. Yes, she's quite the reader. It makes me so happy. :)
DeleteI used to spend a lot at book fairs, too. Lol. Your daughter is lucky to have a mom who understands and encourages the pleasure of reading. Love the party pictures. (By the way, that sign was totally necessary. I might have been one of those guests who'd pick up the eyeballs.)
ReplyDeleteI started reading to my daughter when I was pregnant, so she didn't stand a chance. ;) She's growing up thinking reading is supposed to be a big part of your life, which I think it should be.
DeleteLove the pictures and the sign that says "Please do not eat the eyeballs!" haha
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteOh, My. Eyeballs.
ReplyDeleteIt looks properly ghoulish, but you look scrumptious, and the added waves in hair are lovely. Once again, I use your Monday Mishmash to get my Tuesday, and the rest of the week, going...
Thanks. I very rarely curl my hair, but I did it in honor of my MC. :)
DeleteThe mini cakes look lovely. I gained 5 lbs looking at all that food. lol
ReplyDeleteThose mini cakes were so good! I want more. ;)
DeleteYour zombie party looked "deliciously freaky!"
ReplyDelete:) It was.
