Writer Wednesday: Street Teams

For some time now, I've been tossing around the idea of starting a street team. When Touch of Death first came out, I had people ask me if I was going to create a street team. To be honest, I didn't even know what that meant. But after seeing how many authors rely on their street teams to help get the word out, I decided I should probably create one.

So today I need a favor. I need help naming my street team. I want a name that will encompass all my books, so it can't be anything zombie or necromancer related because only the Touch of Death series has those kinds of characters. I'd love something paranormal or fantasy related though. What's in it for you? Well, if I choose the name you came up with (and leave in the comments for me), I will gift you a copy of any one of my books.

I'm also looking for people who are interested in being part of my yet-to-be-named street team. Street team members will be asked to participate in cover reveals, book blasts (with ready html posts I'll provide for you), passing out SWAG to local libraries, and general spreading the word via Facebook and Twitter. Do you have to do all of that? No. I'll have two tiers of street team members. Members who want to do it all and members who will participate when and how they can. If that's you, sign up below. If you aren't interested but know someone who might be, please pass this on.

So, what should I name my street team? Leave your answer in the comments to be entered to win a copy of one of my books.

  1. I signed up for your Street Team through another link. I also gave a possible name for your Street Team but I think my name was more geared to the Touch of Death Series and not all your books. I'll keep thinking up names and let you know.

  3. I'm in, Kelly!

I too will soon be enlisting a street team of my own for Gabriel and like you, I didn't fully get what a street team was, but after taking part of one last year I really got it, and as I gear up for a big project regarding Gabriel, this street team building will be crucial for me.

I'd recommend checking out this for a primer on street teams-

I hope that my name suggestion emcompases paranormal in a general and open way.

    Take care,

  13. Thanks for defining this term (although it's pretty intuitive). I'd never heard it used. And yes, one would need the perfect name for it!

    1. I'm tossing around a few names people have come up with. I want to make sure it's something I love and the team loves and something that encompasses all my work and not just the series I have out now. Tough to do! lol
