Monday Mishmash 2/2/15

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Editing  I'm booked with edits again this month. The end of 2014 must have been very busy for a lot of writers because I'm editing book after book. :)
  2. Scholastic Book Fair  It's still going on thanks to all the snow days last week. I was a little sad because books I was looking forward to weren't there. My daughter's school only goes to fifth grade so some of the MG books weren't at our fair. :(
  3. Making Book Trailers  I'm working on the trailer for The Darkness Within. This one is proving to be tough! Wish me luck, please.
  4. Busy Month  With Looking For Love (Ashelyn Drake NA romance title) releasing March 17th, I'm busy getting everything ready. Look for a cover reveal on February 13th.
  5. Free Monthly Newsletter  My free monthly newsletter goes out today. If you aren't signed up but would like to receive one, click here.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Ooh, good luck for the trailer.

I'm beginning to get very impatient. It's 6 weeks since I submitted my manuscript for assessment and I haven't heard back yet. I know people are busy, especially after the Christmas break, so I'm trying to forget about it and get on with novel number 2. I'm sure nobody will notice the nervous tic I'm developing.

    Have a great week.

    1. Did you get a time frame for when you'd hear back? Six weeks sounds like a good amount of time. I hope you hear soon.

    2. They said the usual amount of time is 4 weeks depending on the editor's workload but I submitted just before Christmas, plus this particular editor is running a writing course this month so I daresay his time to look at manuscripts is reduced. I'll give it another week then get in touch with them.

  2. Definitely good luck with the trailer. I haven't ventured into that sort of marketing yet. Can't wait to see your new cover on the 13th. Good luck with all of your editing!

    1. Happy birthday to your brother! We got about 8 inches of snow over night and now we're getting freezing rain. *sigh*

  4. Wow, you're super busy! But busy is good. I get so much more done when I have deadlines and lots on my to-do list. Otherwise, I sort of get sucked into reality TV...

    1. The snow has sort of killed the book fair. I feel bad for the teachers trying to catch up with the end of the marking period so near.

  7. You're keeping very busy!

I assume those book fairs happen in our schools. They were there when I was a kid, but not having any children, I've not stepped into a grade school in years.

  9. My school goes up to 5th grade, but they usually still have a lot of upper MG and YA books at the fair. I am curious about how the books to sell are decided and by whom. Hmmm...

Best of luck with the book trailer!

    1. Usually we do get the upper MG but not the YA. I don't know why we didn't this time.

  10. Good luck with your trailer. I need to get on that too. Since stock videos are so expensive, I'll either turn my original trailer into a series trailer or redo the same trailer for each book.

    1. I didn't think stock photos were expensive. I purchase five downloads at a time and always with a coupon code.

  11. I envy ppl who are skilled enough to do their own trailers. I'm hopeless w/that sorta stuff!

  12. Good luck with your trailer. I've never made one. Always let someone else do it. I've noticed this year has been very busy for everyone so far. Lots of new books out. Have a great week.

  15. Good luck on your trailer. I'm starting to enjoy book trailers. I was skeptical of them at first, but I've seen some that get me more excited than movie trailers. lol

  19. I'm waiting for my editor to return the final edits of my MS to me. Maybe today. I don;t want to rush genius, but the waiting is the hardest part.
