Monday Mishmash 2/22/16

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Into the Fire Paperbacks!  OMG!!! I'm still freaking out (in a good way) over how gorgeous the Into the Fire Paperbacks are. They arrived on Friday. Here are some pictures of my pretty books!

  2. Big Changes to My Newsletter  I'm going to post about this on Wednesday, but BIG things are in store for my newsletter. Big for my subscribers that is. If you aren't subscribed, you're going to want to do that here. And check back on Wednesday to see exactly what I have in store for my loyal newsletter subscribers. Hint: You're going to like it. :)
  3. Mystery of Majestic Cave Cover  The second book in the Curse of the Granville Fortune series has a gorgeous cover. I'm not sharing it yet, but I just approved it at the end of last week. Stay tuned for the big unveiling. :) Oh, and book two is coming your way in early June.
  4. What Is Up With Outlook's New Look?  MSN decided to update my email. AGAIN. *Sigh* I'm not liking the new changes. The system is very wonky because I think they tried to make it do too much. Now it glitches all the time. I hope they work the kinks out soon.
  5. Big Changes All Around  My newsletter isn't the only thing that's going to change. I'm putting my foot down and getting really stern…with myself. You see over the past year, I somehow became an editor who also writes, and while I love editing, I'm not okay with this. I'm a writer. I WILL write first and edit second. No more of this, "My editing schedule is booked for the next five months so I won't be able to write until then." I'm writing EVERY day. My pace with edits will slow down, but I'm okay with that.
  6. My Daughter's Birthday  My daughter turns nine on Friday. I can't believe that. My little girl is getting so big!
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  3. Firstly, happy birthday to your daughter - hope she has a wonderful day. Lots of exciting stuff ahead for you both.

This week, my children go back to school after the half term break so it's back into it (tears, toil, bloodshed - well, perhaps in my novels). I'm doing my best to adhere to a new weekly routine and return to a creative project. Still working on novels 2 and 3 and waiting to hear from agents.

    Have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Fi.

Good luck with your novels. I don't know how you're handling two at once! Quite the challenge.

  4. It's always a great feeling to have your paperbacks delivered. It's like the stork bringing you your bundle of joy. Christmas coming early. I redid the cover of my poetry chapbook and expadited the proof, so I'm prepping myself not to have too much of a happy, gooey meltdown the second time around. And a happy early birthday to your daughter. It's always amazing how fast they grow up isn't it?

Thanks. I can't believe she's going to be nine. Just wow.

  5. An early happy birthday to your daughter!

I haven't noticed any problems- yet- with Outlook, but it's no doubt just a matter of time.

Ugh, I've had nothing but problems with Outlook since this new change. :( Hopefully you continue to have good luck with it.

  7. Happy early birthday to your daughter!! I've had to make some changes to my schedule too. I'm not writing nearly as often as I'd like.

    1. I'm so much happier writing every day, even if it's only for a half hour.

  8. Good for you! I'm on a deadline, but it's for writing an Executive Summary report! :P

  9. Good idea to focus more on writing. I sometimes get overwhelmed by other work and forget to work on my own books, or don't have time or energy for it anymore. On average, how many books do you edit per week, just out of curiosity? :)

    1. I'm usually working on one or two books a week. How long each takes depends on the length of the book and what type of edit the client is looking for.

  10. Kids grow so fast. Well that's what the parents say. My books stay the same. #Bookmummy. I'm weird. Happy pre birthday to the little one. Wow those covers look spectacular Kelly. Yeah making more time for writing your own stuff can be tough. Since my freelancing is almost exclusively ghostwriting I can relate. Never thought that part would take off so well but it's still writing and I wanted to like my job that paid the bills.

  11. Happy birthday to your daughter. They sure do grow up fast. Such great news with your new books. Sometimes you just have to do what you want first (write) and let other things take their place. Good for you. Happy writing.

  12. So exciting about the newletter, paperback, cover, and more writing. I teach full-time, and it's hard to write when I have papers to grade at home, so I have to be diligent getting in my writing time. Happy birthday to your daughter.

    1. I used to teach and remember those days. It's tough. You do a great job though.

  13. I never like the adjustments to the upgrades on my PC, until I'm used to them and it's time to upgrade again...
But the arrival of your new book box makes up for it.

  14. I can't believe your daughter is turning 9 on Friday. I feel like it was just yesterday she was starting kindergarten! Makes me realize how long I have been following your blog!

The books look beautiful and I am so excited for you that you have so many wonderful changes going on right now. :) Yeah!

  15. Happy birthday to your daughter!!! And your book looks amazing. There's nothing like getting a box of your own books in the mail. Truly happy-making! As for the editing/writing thing--I'm expected to write 2,000 words a day for my clients and I do most days--but I also make sure I work in 250 words a day at least on my current manuscript. I just work it in as one of the things I have to do before I go to bed at night.

  16. Those are beautiful paperbacks! I actually like paperbacks better than hardcover, so I always like seeing nice ones. =) Happy birthday to your daughter!
