- Happy New Year I hope 2012 brings much success to you all.
- TOUCH OF DEATH on Goodreads My debut YA is now listed on Goodreads. If you'd like, you can add it here.
- Missing decorations Is anyone else missing the Christmas decorations? My tree is down. The lighted houses are put away. My house seems kind of boring now.
- 2012 Debuts There are a lot of great books and authors debuting this year, including my amazing agency sisters. I'll be sure to share them with you. In fact, one is coming up soon. (DESTINY'S FIRE by Trisha Wolfe)
- Half-price sales Did anyone else load up on half-price merchandise after the holidays? I totally did.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?
*Reminder: My free monthly newsletter goes out later today. Want one? Sign up here.
Awesome! I added it! Isn't it amazing to see your book go up on Goodreads immediately after the sale appears? I was astonished to see mine appear and promptly boot the other book off my GR homepage.
ReplyDeleteI added it too :-) Love the pitch by the way!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I bought so far are books on Amazon for my new kindle (and hubby says I need to stop this...like now lol)
We are driving back home today after more than a week visiting my family in France and his family in another part of Germany...
Today, I feel thankful for the wonderful holiday season :-)
Happy New Year!
Dianne, yes, I was amazed at how quickly my book was on there. Thanks for adding it to your to-read list. :)
ReplyDeletecommutinggirl, thanks for adding my book. The pitch was all my agent's doing. She's amazing. :) Wow, France and Germany, I'm so jealous. Have a safe and happy commute home, and happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteMy daughters and I hit lots of day after sales. Is there any other way to shop?
ReplyDeleteinluvwithwords, there really isn't. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's great your book got there so quickly!
ReplyDeleteThese days, I try to make rest my one and only thought. :)
I agree...my house does seem kind of boring :) We rearragned, though, and so the "different" is outweighing the "boring". Happy New Year to you, too!
ReplyDeleteWoot! Added it! I can't wait! Congrats, Kelly!
ReplyDeleteangel011, I've been resting a lot since Im sick right now.
ReplyDeleteKatieC, ooh good idea. I should try rearranging.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Trisha! :)
ReplyDeleteYour novel is already on my to-read list.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading 2012 debuts this year. I already have some on pre-order.
Happy New Year, if I haven't said it already, and have a great week.
Hi Kelly, I added your book to read on Goodreads. What's happening with me? I'm part of the Indie book Fair that Susan Kaye Quinn organized. Everyone is invited to pop on over to my blog and peruse the offerings.
ReplyDeleteMissing Decorations - We have the opposite problem. We have MORE decorations now than we did when they went up in early December. Now they don't all fit in the boxes.
ReplyDeleteChristmas Sales - Heather gots a good deal on wrapping paper and cards for next year. December 26 was a great shopping day for stocking up.
Medeia, I saw you were one of the first ones to add it. Thank you! I'm really excited about some of the 2012 releases, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Catherine, ooh! I'll be stopping by!
ReplyDeleteTim, I hear you. I stocked up on a ton of cards and wrapping paper. Great deals.
ReplyDeleteMissing decorations? Nope. Hubby loves the Xmas tree. It's his fav part of the season. He mopes when I ask him to take it down.
ReplyDeleteThis year I'm determined to wait him out. I suspect the tree will be with us in February!
Anne, LOL. I can't wait to see how long you both hold out.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the book (it sounds great!). I didn't load up on sales but I did manage to get a sweet DSLR camera. My decorations were down two days after Christmas and since I didn't decorate much this year there isn't much to miss.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing sadder than taking down the decorations are the homes that don't, for a
ReplyDeletel-o-o-o-o-ng time after. They seem 'stuck.'
So a pat on the back to you for your energy (always) and industriousness, Kelly.
Thanks, Rena! We always take our decorations down on New Year's day. We like to keep them up through the end of the year because the house looks so nice all decorated. Enjoy your camera!
ReplyDeleteMirka, speaking of energy, it took more than usual since I'm sick. But I agree that I can't have decorations out too long after the holiday or I feel stuck in the past. Although I have to admit to being sad about saying goodbye to 2011. It was my best writing year yet. I hope 2012 is as good.
ReplyDeleteMy decorations are still up and I can't put them down yet. LOL I will take them down when I get back from holiday. I've added Touch of Death to my Goodreads list. Can't wait to check it out. Happy New Year, Kelly! xo
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Shannon! Thanks for adding Touch of Death. :)
ReplyDeleteBought 2 down comforters (400 count thread) at half price! Best purchase of the year. :)
ReplyDeleteDiane, nice! I got a new comforter for Christmas. I love it. It was on sale, but not half-price. Nice find!
ReplyDeleteI haven't really been to any stores and the tree always stays up until Epiphany is over which is going to be this weekend, so no I'm still in the holiday mood! Happy New Year Kelly!
ReplyDeleteAgree with you about the house looking like a waste land now that all the twinkly lights are gone. I've always wanted to leave the up year round just to feel like I am in my own wonderland. No after the holiday shopping for me. I wasn't motivated to brave the crowds this year. On my mind is a book proposal and query letter. Something new to learn about. Happy New Year, Kelly. I am excited for all the magic coming our way.
ReplyDeleteThe Desert Rocks, lucky you! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteBrenda, ooh query letter time. I'm sick because I love writing query letters. I used to hate it until I was told to write them in the POV of the main character and then switch it to third person. You should try it.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fabulous 2012! I took down my Christmas decorations and I love having it up- but I love taking it down too. My house always feels so clean right away. :) I bought lots of items at half off- I do the same at Halloween. Such good deals after the holidays!

Jess, that's a good way to look at it. Not boring. Clean.
ReplyDeleteJust added your book to my to-read list. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tasha! :)
ReplyDeleteI added your book both on Goodreads and on my TBR list. Exciting! I need to get more involved with Goodreads. I'm a member but haven't participated much and it seems like a really great book site. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol. I like Goodreads because I can't keep track of what I read or even what I want to read. Goodreads does it for me, which is awesome. I love it. Any time I see a book I want to read, I add it on Goodreads until I'm ready to buy it.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Kelly! May it be as prolific as 2011 and more so! No time to shop this year but I have to make sleep a priority! Wrote about sleep on todays blog!
ReplyDeleteJodi, happy New Year! I've been sleeping a lot lately since I'm sick, so I hear you.
ReplyDeleteWe have two trees up. We are trying to figure out which one to leave up all this year. Our house is also our store,we live upstairs and the store is downstairs. We leave one tree up to display the ornaments we sell.
ReplyDeleteI loved the idea you spoke of about writing the query from the MC POV, then changing it to third person. Who better to tell what the book is about than the MC? Thanks!
rick, I'm glad you found that query trick helpful. I like to pass on things I learn. Pay it forward. :)
ReplyDeleteYay for Goodreads! I've missed so much, including your agent and book deal news! Congrats from a late party-comer. (I'm still invited, right?) :)
ReplyDeleteElana, of course you are still invited. Thanks for stopping by and celebrating with me. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I'm following your blog now too. It's pretty cute, and I like the books you've included.
