Monday Mishmash 1/27/14

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:
  1. Passing of my dog  My 13-year-old German shepherd, Sage, passed away yesterday. She was the best dog you could ask for, so we're all very sad in the Hashway household. We'll miss her dearly.
  2. Face of Death  Technically, my release date is tomorrow, but all the online retailers began shipping Face of Death on the 21st, so my baby is already out there in the world. Still, I'll be celebrating on Tuesday. This might be my favorite book in the series.
  3. Scholastic Book Fair  This week I'm helping the PTO at my daughter's school with the Scholastic Book Fair. Looks like I'll be buying lots of books.
  4. Edits  I'm working on Into the Fire edits this week. And speaking of, there are a few Phoenix books coming out this year. Mine will be among them.
  5. Breathe For Me Cover Reveal  Last week was the reveal for a new Spencer Hill Press book by Rhonda Helms. Check it out.

Isabel’s been cursed since the Middle Ages.
Desperate to escape an arranged marriage, she made a hasty bargain with a demon, asking for liberation from an oppressive husband-to-be and the excitement of travel. But the demon’s “gift” came at a steep cost. Each time he moves her to a new city, her memory’s wiped. No one can touch her bare skin without injury or even death. And she sees the lifespan of every living being (and is, in fact, immortal herself).
All a constant reminder that she’s different than other teen girls.
But New Orleans seems to accept her as she is. She has friends and a real life in this quirky, hot city. Then Isabel meets Dominic, whose deep soul and strong character draw her to him. Her growing love gives her the courage to confront the demon, insisting the curse be broken. But the demon’s price for freedom is much, much higher than she could possibly give.

That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. So sorry to hear about Sage. I didn't know you had another dog. Is Hadley still okay? Were they close?

My Pepper will be *Gulp* 13 this year (May 15th, right after my birthday) and I don't know what I'll do, but I'm enjoying him now while he's still on this side of it.
I'm not superstitious, but hearing Sage died around the same age Pepper...
I recently announced on T.A.A. and throughout my circles that my debut novel Gabriel has changed publishers, but I still have the same fab editor: Yay! (Who left my original publisher for personal reasons) I'll be sending her the new contract this week.

Also, I FINALLY got freed this video of all annoying typos-

I'll be more careful next time, but I really want this series to get more love, and hopefully this fan book trailer will nab those visual readers and my reviews of the series on T.A.A. alongside these fan trailers will bring more eyeballs to the series and T.A.A. as well.

I thought it'd be a great way to promote T.A.A. without it being directly about me but support the niche I'm trying to build and serve, too.

    1. Thanks, Taurean.

Your editor is the same as mine at G8 press and she's going to be taking me with her too.

    2. Great, we still get to be "Publisher Siblings." Yay!

That said, in light of Sage's death, is Hadley (That cute puppy you got some time ago) okay?

      Were Hadley and Sage close?

    3. Hadley is pretty lost without Sage. We're cuddling her a lot and trying to let her know that it's going to be okay. It's hard because she doesn't understand where Sage went. She keeps looking for her. It's just been tough on all of us.

    4. Poor Hadley. It just proves like people animal grieve in their own ways. Hope you all get through this as soon as you can. I'll be thinking of you all.

  10. So sorry to hear about the passing of your dog, Kelly. My dog is going on 12 and I know that's old, but for an English bulldog, it's particularly old. Good luck with your work, the pain will subside. Taz passed in May and I still think of him every day.

    1. I've had my share of dogs, so I'm used to this part—not that it makes it easier. Dogs tend to get in your heart in a way just melts you.

  11. May Sage rest in peace. We had a German Shepherd years ago and loved her dearly. Actually we've had two, along with many other dogs that we have loved. They truly are man's best friend.

Congratulations on your books. Have a great week.

  14. Sorry about your loss, but congrats on your successful release. Isn't it weird how things tend to come that way, something very bad balanced by something very good? Congrats to Rhonda on her book! :)
