Monday Mishmash 3/31/14

Happy Monday! Here's my mishmash of thoughts:
  1. Family Expo  I'll be at the Family Expo on Sunday the 6th from noon to 3pm talking about writing and displaying my books. The Expo is held at East Stroudsburg High School South if you're in the area.
  2. Edits  I'm expecting edits this week for Perfect For You, my upcoming Ashelyn Drake YA contemporary romance. I'm excited!
  3. Author Events  April is a busy month for me. I have three author events scheduled.
  4. Reading  I'm reading Insurgent right now. I loved Divergent, but I'm not as in love Insurgent just yet. I'm enjoying it, but not quite as much as book one.
  5. Need To Read  Tomorrow is the first Need To Read post on YA Bound. Need To Read is a new meme, posted on the first Tuesday of each month, that highlights books releasing that month. These are the books we've waited for and now we can read them. Feel free to grab the button and post your Need To Read books.

That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. These are all great things. Have fun at the events and good luck with edits. I had to warm up to book 2, but then enjoyed it tremendously.

  2. Wow, you are busy. I'm diving back into my novel after finishing my play. Very excited. And we have sunshine, and flowers in the garden. Happy me.

    1. We have a two-hour delay today due to the icy rain we got last night. lol Will spring ever really feel like spring here?

Anyway, loved your post today. It was fun learning more about your novel.

  4. Author events sound exciting! Do you buy new clothes for them? Whenever I do something I'm really excited about, I like to buy a new top or scarf. Makes it feel even more special, I guess. =) Have fun at the expo!

    1. I bought new "author event" outfits after Christmas. Not sure what I'm wearing to each event yet. The weather will play a big part in that decision.

    1. Yay! Good luck with that.

I have to put my writing ideas aside because this is a month of client edits and revisions on my upcoming books. I think I needed to step away from my WIP though. I need to miss it for a while.

  7. You do have a busy April planned. For me, I think I'll be lazy and just work on my story. I hope to submit it in April.

  8. As usual, you are one busy lady! Sounds like you have lots of fun author events lined up. I am done my tour, and I came down with a flu. Boo hoo. But the good thing is that I just finished book 2 in The Art of Love series.

  11. Hang on tight when you get to ALLEGIANT, Kelly. Controversial ending, but kudos to Veronica for having the courage to write it.

    1. I've stayed away from reviews because I like to form my own opinions. I find that a lot of books people rave over, either good or bad, I don't end up feeling the same way. lol

  12. I went and saw Divergent last night and am looking forward to picking up the rest of the trilogy, though I've heard that some people were a little less than happy with the other books.

    1. Yeah, book three got some awful ratings, but that never stops me from reading a book. I think authors have to do what they feel is right for their characters and stories. Not everyone is going to agree with it.

  13. Wow, Kelly! You just keep publishing/writing one book right after the other. I wish I had your stamina. ;)

  15. Insurgent was my least favorite of the three, but the series overall was very satisfying. I'm feeling pretty meh about the movie - which makes me sad because I really wanted to like it. I'll have to check out Need to Read! I'm really looking forward to the release of Dreams of Gods and Monsters in April.

    1. Insurgent started getting better today. I hope that continues.

  16. The titles of Insurgent and Divergent seem to be out of sequence to me. I always expect an Insurgent first! :)

Have fun at your author events!

    1. I think the titles make sense for the story. Have you read the books, Diane? I know you aren't big on YA.
