Monday Mishmash 5/4/15

Happy Monday! Monday Mishmash is a weekly meme dedicated to sharing what's on your mind. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Mishmash.

Here's what's on my mind today:
  1. Drafting  I'm hoping to finish my MG draft this week. I have 15 pages of notes for the book, but for some reason it's been a difficult book to draft. I'm about 8K in at the moment.
  2. Critiques for Rate Your Story  I have three critiques I need to get to this week since I'm a volunteer judge at Rate Your Story.
  3. Class Presentations  I get to visit my daughter's second grade class this Friday to see the kids present the computer projects they've been working on. I'm always amazed at how good kids are with computers so this should be fun.
  4. Free Monthly Newsletter  My free monthly newsletter goes out this evening. If you aren't signed up but would like to receive one, click here.
  5. Editing  I have a small gap between editing projects, so if you need anything edited in a hurry, I'm your lady. Feel free to email me at khashway(at)hotmail(dot)com.
That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

  1. Class presentations are so much fun. Hoping to finish my draft for my new tween novel this week, and trying to come up with the perfect blurb for my 1st YA adventure novel. Hope it's a productive week for both of us.

  3. love reading your writing goals, always makes me want to write more! I had such a crazy busy week and with the nicer weather I'm finding it's such a push to write! I'm on a strict schedule this week :) I want the majority of my project drafted by the middle of this month

  4. My mom visited my class when I was in fifth grade for career day and talked about writing. I was so proud of her. :) Your daughter will have a blast with you there.

    1. Luckily, she still likes having me at her school and with her and her friends. I'm going to enjoy this while it lasts. ;)

  5. Kids are great with computers. Which baffles one when you ask what happened to the shirts they were supposed to put away and they say "I don't know..."

  6. Just finished up my first semester and I'm exhausted. I think it was more the A-Z Challenge thing that got to me more than anything, on top of all the scholastic writing I've been having to do!

Those presentations will be a blast I bet! Have fun.

    1. I was exhausted just watching you guys do the A to Z Challenge. I don't think I could handle it.

    1. My draft is fighting me every step of the day but I managed to wrestle 5,000 words into the scene today, so I'm calling it a win. Hoping tomorrow goes better though.

    2. That should say way, not day. I shouldn't comment from my phone. I hit the wrong keys all the time.

  8. Good luck with the draft. I'm having a few days' breather from writing after having done Camp Nanowrimo last month. I intended to write 30,000 words during the month but only managed 26,000. Still that's a healthy chunk. Have a great week.

    1. I only managed 5,000 words yesterday, which is not good for me. I may not meet this goal. :(

  11. Kids are a whiz with computers. I remember way back in the day, having to write a simple program and I felt like I was a member of Nasa when it actually worked.

  12. Kids and computers... I was just born too early.
But what really amazes me in you Monday mash is that you actually have some time. No doubt the extra editing will pour in and fill that mini-gap in a hurry.

    1. I know. I'm not used to having free time. It feels weird, and I'm not sure I like it. lol

  13. I hope you meet your goal for the draft. Kids with computer access become experts. I learn from them.

    1. I've redefined my goal for this draft because trying to make myself live up to what I usually can write in a day was driving me crazy. This draft is different and I have to allow myself to adapt to it, which means lower word counts each day. I've come to terms with it. I think. ;)
